Mira 723 shower - can I change from gravity to mains fed ?

Not sure about age or service history but I was considering a pressure equalising valve like this http://www.plumbingsuppliesandfittings.co.uk/Water_pressure_equalising_valve--product--80.html if there was any discernible pressure difference between the hot and cold water supply (which I think...

    B & Q - Trade point

From my looking at CLS, MDF, T&G flooring, etc. they come out ahead of Wickes when you factor in delivery and the fact that hey can and will cut sheeting for you. Delivered to site for free starting at £250 incl VAT can't be bad when Wickes want £30 or so, an extra 12% or thereabouts. Wickes...

Best way to secure studwork to concrete floor

I'd sort of envisaged the locking of the flooring to walls, all tied in as being quite tight. Also, the property is built of massive stones, hardly likely, in my humble opinion, to be moving anywhere soon. I guess though that the idea came out of necessity rather than practicality, hence my...

Best way to secure studwork to concrete floor

We had a bit of damp and I thought screwing it direct into the concrete would be asking for trouble as the screws would go through any damp proof membrane, somewhat rending it pointless. I also assumed I'd need more expensive timber that way, less susceptible to moisture etc.

Mira 723 shower - can I change from gravity to mains fed ?

I've a boxed in Mira 723 currently fed by an immersion header cold water tank and I want to know whether I can change this to take feeds at mains or near mains pressure. I got this from the net http://homepage.ntlworld.com/patrick.beane/mira723maintenance.pdf but I'm no expert. The makers...

What can I brush on to seal and cover up an old ceiling ?

I've a very old outbuilding with a rough ceiling. It looks part plastered, maybe with some boarding long ago and semi sealed with who knows what a while back. I just want to tidy it up and after giving it a rough brush down to remove any loose debris, I want something I can brush onto it to...

Best budget (ish) circular saw at the moment ?

I need a circular saw with fine enough teeth to cut up some MDF and other lumber fairly neatly and wondered if anyone has come across a half way decent one. This job and then occasional use only.

Best way to secure studwork to concrete floor

I have a concrete floor and I want to put up some stud partitions. I would like to avoid screwing the sole plate into the concrete. One option I was think of was to lay timber joists with 18mm T&G chipboard as a floating floor and then nail the studwork into that. Another option I saw was...
