Generally speaking, if the light fitting type is one that you plaster in, I'm not sure you'd be able to get access to the parts that would need replacing anyway as it would be a tight fit to get your hand inside and to the back to change anything?

TBH I'd probably just keep it closed and manually open it when need it. But point taken about the sensor. Do you recall whether there was a choice of which way the motor was positioned.

A sky card was required once upon a time to watch free to air channels. I remember my sky plus HD box required it whenever I tried to tune into a FTA channel. They must have changed the policy as I have been happily watching FTA without the card in for the last 5 years or so.
