    My pipes are coming through the stud wall into the rad, all pipes are hidden. Bathroom wall is tiled but the stud wall that the bathrom rad is on,is also our bedroom wall.

    Yes, just there now, looking at the rad, the right hand side pipe warmed up first.

    OK, what do you mean by..... don't touch their lockshield valve ? Im busy at the mo but I will see what pipe warms up first from cold a bit later. Thanks all.

    yes, its hot but the older rads in the house would be hotter to the touch, thats what made me think its not just as hot to touch, because its aluminium.

    OK, I will try that, the new rad heats up OK but it dosen't warm the bathroom up as much as the old rad I first had in. I was thinking its because this new one is Aluminium.

    I'm not sure what the plumber did, I wasnt there at the time. When the rad is off and I then turn on the heat to it, can I tell when the pipes warm up what one is flow and return?

    Thanks, aye it is..... well as far as i know, Ive use the same plumber for years and his work is always perfect, How can I tell if it is fitted wrong? Thanks The Rad is hot enough, even very warm to touch.

    Thats what I'd do and you might want to drill a pilot hole or two in that joist and add screw fixings to it, watch the joist dosent split on you. Hope that helps :)

    Well if it lasted this long :) its not the way it should be supported, don't know if it would work but what about cleaning away the paint from the newel and glue and screw a bit of timber to it, pushed it tight under the trimmer, it would add extra support, only a thought.
