    Help with 4 colour wiring

Morning all, The light switch was standard 3 core, with neutral being switched live. When I opened up the fan Isolator I saw the attached, so I'm assuming the 4 core cable comes from here. I will also open the fan as I didn't have time this morning. Thank you again for your help.

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Thank you, I appreciate your help. I will look at the switch in the morning to see what's going on and will revert back.

    Help with 4 colour wiring

I joined the ring main in another junction box, as I alluded to earlier in one of my posts. I have a cable from that junction box feeding the one pictured above and labelled it as such

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Not ignored, the fan was tricky to take apart to check the wiring but I get your point.

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Yes sure, I will investigate. Shall I also look in the isolator switch?

    Help with 4 colour wiring

I need to add an illuminated mirror to the circuit, which would have been difficult to replicate exactly in the new light fitting.

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Going clockwise Top left Grey - spur from lighting ring main acting as supply Top right white - Assumed to be switched cable, neutral, live and earth connected to corresponding blocks. Yellow assumed to be switched live, connected to loop terminal on JB Bottom right grey - load going to new...

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Tried yellow as switched live but it tripped the RCD. I also remembered there is an isolator on this circuit for the fan. Does that change things?

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Thanks Pete. Just to clarify, the cable I need to figure out has Red, Blue, Yellow and Earth. So I assume Red is Live, Blue is Neutral, Yellow is switched Live. When I wire in my new light fitting, I will connect the Red from the light fitting to the Yellow, again assuming it's switched live...

    Help with 4 colour wiring

Hi, I'm looking to replace the ceiling rose below with a new light and a little confused by the wiring. I have worked out conductors belong to the ring main and disconnected those from the ceiling rose and reconnected them and the other lights on this circuit all work fine. The 4 colours on...

    Hard wiring Ring Camera

Thank you. In my latest approach, I will have the transformer above the boards. The Ring power supply is a bit odd. It has a transformer that has a detachable 3 pin adapter which can then be attached to a longer figure 8 cable and 3 pin plug to extend the cable. In my latest approach I do away...

    Hard wiring Ring Camera

Thank you all, I realised that this at minimum would need an FCU and then the transformer under the boards ☠️. I found another way to shorten the run so the thinner usb cable protrudes out from the floorboard but the cable is unbroken all the way to the outdoor camera.

    Hard wiring Ring Camera

Hi, I am planning to hard wire my Ring Spotlight Outdoor Camera using the official Ring power supply. My question is whether I can hardwire it into my ring main circuit by cutting off the 3 pin plug, as the transformer is powered by the figure 8 connector terminating into the 3pin plug. I would...

Outdoor socket with built in 20A DP

Thank you for the input. I'm not necessarily after a separate switch but just a means to isolate the outside socket in the event of a fault or water ingress to stop the rest of the house tripping. Would the wessex product from toolstation acheive that?

Outdoor socket with built in 20A DP

Hi, I'm looking to install a waterproof outdoor socket by taking a spur from an internal socket but given it'll be outdoors id like to be able to isolate it using a 20A DP switch. However, it would be ideal if the DP switch was built into the outdoor socket so I dont have to have an knockout...

    Candeo Dimmer Module

Hi, Id really appreciate a bit guidance on how to wire this dimmer module. I have 1mm TE coming in from the lighting circuit and then another 1mm TE running to my LED lights. Could anyone advise on which live and neutral goes where? Thanks in advance

Can I add an EV charger for a PHEV to this CU

Sorry but I think this thread has gotten a bit out of hand. I would be grateful if anyone could advise me whether I can add a 50a RCBO paired with a 10mm2 TE cable to power a 7.3kw EV charger, with the cable routing adjacent to my floor joists in between floor boards and the ceiling below. I...

Can I add an EV charger for a PHEV to this CU

Yes, that's very true. Given my next car is a 4 year lease, I'm happy to go down an intermediate route by having a 7kw charger running off my CU and in the future when I have my driveway done, bury a cable that can we used for a future high powered charger in case I go down the full EV route. As...

Can I add an EV charger for a PHEV to this CU

Thank you for the advice. Im not sure i follow the usual bandwagon comment? Also why is a PHEV a bad idea? Most of my driving is 20-30 miles and I don't want an EV for the longer runs.
