Hi,

I'm looking to install a waterproof outdoor socket by taking a spur from an internal socket but given it'll be outdoors id like to be able to isolate it using a 20A DP switch. However, it would be ideal if the DP switch was built into the outdoor socket so I dont have to have an knockout box inside the property to house the DP switch.

Not sure if these exist but would appreciate any input. It could also be that im talking utter nonsense?

You could use a mk master seal 20amp double pole switch fitted next to your double socket outside ….

If you want double pole, then why not go for a DP twin socket?

Item 74162 if the link times out.

EDIT .. if you do want a DP 20a switch as well as a DP socket, then item 52204 will meet your requirements.

Thank you for the input. I'm not necessarily after a separate switch but just a means to isolate the outside socket in the event of a fault or water ingress to stop the rest of the house tripping. Would the wessex product from toolstation acheive that?

I’m wondering if you have thought about what you propose.
The reason for having the DP switch is to isolate the socket, in case of water ingress. Yes?

BUT if you fit the isolator outside then the DP switch will be as liable to water ingress as the socket. In fact, you increase the risk of water ingress, as you will have a junction between the switch and the socket. This can be a point of leakage.
So you could increase the risk!

Fit a DP switch is a good idea, but fit it inside!

I agree with the others.
Putting the DP switch outside completely defeats the point of having it. In fact it increases the risk of water ingress causing an RCD to trip because having more fittings outside simply increases the number of potential leak points.
