Securing gate post to concrete post

Not sure I follow. Are you suggesting I drill through the post entirely and have a nut on the exterior? If so, that would be unsightly as the post is visible on both sides.

Securing gate post to concrete post

There is a u-channel on the other side, so a bolt should be fine. I have all the relevant tools but I'm wondering what type of screw or bolt to use? Also I won't be able to get a wall plug in, so I'm wondering if a bolt will actually get any grip in the concrete post itself.

Securing gate post to concrete post

Hi, I had new concrete post and an aluminium gate post fitted but the builders didn't set the gate post plumb so it kicks out at the top, meaning, my gate catches the gate post at the top and is causing damage. Both posts are set into concrete. I wanted to ask if there was a decent method of...

    Damaged electrical cables

Yeah, I'm leaning towards a safe repair for my own peace of mind. Any other suggestions to the MF JB approach?

    Damaged electrical cables

Ah yes of course, so in theory I can cut out some of the block work and place a MF JB in there and then set it in plaster?

    Damaged electrical cables

Yeah, entire run just isn't possible unfortunately as the area is also under a tiled bathroom. So I have no idea where the cable comes from and goes out to. Can I replace the damaged length and join then using a connector and shrink sleeve wrap? If used a maintenance free junction box, could I...

    Damaged electrical cables

Unfortunately I don't. Assuming they were damaged and unsafe, what options would I have?

    Damaged electrical cables

BTW, I don't mind replacing the cables from any point in the wall, I just can't chase them back to where they originate and then run on to.

Thanks, what kind of prep would be required for the beams?

    Damaged electrical cables

I've just taken off dot & dab plasterboard from a brick wall as the plasterboard was damaged and cheaper to replace and I've discovered two cables that supply power to a power socket that look they have been cut in to by some sort of tool. The socket has always worked and RCD never tripped. The...

I am switching to an electric hob but planning to have that on a separate circuit.

    Cable for 32a / 6.3KW double oven

Thank you all for the input. Is the verdict 6mm2 T&E? And does it need to be Heat Resistant? I don't mind oversizing the cable.

    Cable for 32a / 6.3KW double oven

I'll only be clipping it to the floor joists as I have bits of my ceiling plasterboard cut away and the floorboards up on the floor above.

    Cable for 32a / 6.3KW double oven

Hi all, I am planning to lay some cable ahead of my kitchen being installed and wanted to get some guidance on the size of the conductor required for a 32A / 6.3KW double oven that will be on a standalone circuit. I won't be doing any of the installation but would like to get the cable in place...
