Oversized nails in loft from roof

Hi, There are a number of nails that are protruding 1-2 inches out of the roof beams. Some of them have been bent over so are safe, however is there any solution to make the ones sticking out any safer. I really dont fancy hitting them with a hammer to bend them over. Can you get anything...

    LED Downlight removal

Thanks for the advice. They all currently have ventilation voids around them so I want to add some insulation and use a insulation coverable downlight cover over them to protect them from the insultion. Hopefully I can get them out without creating too much of a disaster zone. Cheers Steve

    LED Downlight removal

Hi I need to remove 6 downlights over the weekend. They have springs which presses against the roof side of the plaster board. Unfortunately it is a sloping ceiling so I have no access above. Has anyone any tips of the best way to remove these without damaging the ceiling. I have read a...

    Kitchen Extractor ducting

Hi, I want to replace the kitchen extractor ducting as it was installed by the previous owners of the house and is held together with tape, and looks a mess. Its also not all that effective as the air escapes the joints. The problem I have is that the extractor appears to have a 4.5 inch...

    Replacing fused spur

Sorry when I was referring to the solution above I meant with the GRID 20Amp switches ( as proposed by JohnW2 ) and the fused spurs on top of the units. I did not mean the fuse solution which I agree could be problematic.

    Replacing fused spur

The backbox is 25mm but there is small cavity around the box that I could put the inline fuses. The solution above seems my best option. Thanks to all of you for your help. Kind Regards Steve

    Replacing fused spur

Hi, one of the cables is already through and is 2.5mm t+e. I can get another cable through should I be able to add a double switch as discussed. Thanks Steve

    Replacing fused spur

Hi thanks for that. The only reason that I want two individual switches is that the power supply for the strip lighting is 100w and it means everytime we want only the under cabinet lighting on, the transformer will be powered up but not powering anything. Regarding the switched left on and...

    Replacing fused spur

Hi, I was hoping to get away with a 1g box as the wall is tiled. What I was hoping is that I could wire up from the existing socket to a double light switch ( 1 gang ) that would replace the existing fused spur. I would then have a wire from each of the switches up to above the cabinets where...

    Replacing fused spur

Yes sorry it comes from a double socket that is sits next to the existing fused spur that Im wanting to change. If I ran from the switches ( that would replace the fused spur ) and put fused spurs before going to any lighting transformers would this not achieve the same?. The only reason I was...

    Replacing fused spur

Hi, the fused spur was originally put there to support old style hallogen lighing in the cabinet. From the fused spur the wire runs up to the top of the units and into a junction box to the various lights. I am removing the old lights so the only thing that will be driven from the switches...

    Replacing fused spur

hi, I am in the process of installing some lighting in a utility room. I am going to use led strip lights above and at the bottom of the units and some triangle shaped bench lights above the unit benches. Ideally I want the bench units and the strip lights switched independantly, however...

    Strip LED lighting in kitchen

Hi, Im looking at putting some RGB strip lighting into the kitchen units. I would ideally like the same lighting colour to be at the top and bottom of the cabinets and use a single power supply ( that is capable of running the configuration ). Would the configuration in the diagram work...

Hi mate, Yea, it has 0, followed by the snowflake symbol, then followed by a 1 etc. So from what you have described the TRV is broken. Thanks again for all your help. Steve

Hi mate, The TRV is on 0 as you mention when it happens. However, the radiator still heats up first thing in the morning as the bathroom can get quite chilly through the night. Thanks for you help. Steve

    Radiator humming

Hi, thanks for your reply. I havent tried turning it right up as turning it up a little bit appears to resolve the issue. I will try turning it right up next time it occurrs. Are the valves easy to replace? Cheers
