Boiler efficiency in the real world - old WB vs new Intergas

One more thing is the Intergas Xtreme worth the extra money for a bit more efficiency? Looking at the spec sheet it looks like the Xtreme 30 should provide the same amount of hot water as the Xlcusive 36 (13.5l/min) however the warranty looks to be 7 years not 10 and I'm guessing it's going to...

Boiler efficiency in the real world - old WB vs new Intergas

We currently have a WB 35 CDi RSF ii that is about 13 years old and has given good service but looks like it needs a new diverter valve and possibly heat exchanger which can probably be sorted for somewhere between £200 and £400. My other option is to put the repair costs towards a new boiler...

Combi cutting out when cold tap closed.

We have a Worcester Bosch 35 CDI RSF II combi boiler and it's functioned well for years. We have a problem where if a hot tap is running, be it bath, shower or tap and a cold tap runs quickly and is closed abruptly such as by closing the tap quickly or if a washing machine or dishwasher turns...

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

Well I've just fitted the new capacitor from Maplin and so far it's looking perfect. I've turned the HW and CH on about 30 times and every time the motor spins into life. I'll monitor it and see how it goes over the course of a few days but so far things are looking good. For anyone else...

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

There is very little resistance when turning the spindle with a screwdriver and it doesn't seem to get tight at any particular spots The other half is going to pick up one of the capacitors on her way back so we'll find out soon.

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

I can't find an exact match however Maplins have a 2uF 460V capacitor meant for motors for £3.50 so it may be worth a try.

Thanks, that's a very good point. I hadn't thought about just swapping the motor.

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

Thanks for that, I don't have a problem with the new price and swapping shouldn't be that difficult although there doesn't seem to be much movement in various pipes without removing other items. Can anyone else confirm the likelyhood of the capacitor being at fault as that would be easier to swap?

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

The pump is a Bosch 59506607 such as this. http://www.directheatingsupplies.co.uk/worcester-87161431080-pump-g-fos-59506607-87161431080 I've only seen the pump not start, once it's running it stays on from what I can see. There is a big capacitor in the plastic box attached to the pump. Does...

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

If I put a multimeter on the power wires to the pump as soon as there is a demand for CH the wires show 240V and then as you say the pump should run but sometimes it doesn't. When it's not working with 240V to it if I put a screwdriver to the pump and my ear I can hear a high pitch noise and...

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

With the pump spindle cover removed am I correct in thinking that spindle should always spin when there is a demand for HW or CH? It's not always spinning and when it doesn't is when the pressure goes mad and the boiler cuts out.

Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler making banging noises

We have a Worcester Bosch 35CDi II RSF boiler that we've had for about 10 years and it's developed a problem. When we turn a hot water tap on at a low rate it ignites quickly and starts working as expected and then after about 10 seconds it starts making banging noises and the pressure gauge...

Hotpoint cooker EW93 Error 17 code

We've got a Hotpoint cooker EW93 and when we turn the main oven on to a set temperature the preheat light doesn't go off even after an hour or so whereas usually it would take about 10 minutes. The oven is getting hot although and after about 1.5 hours the oven went off and the the display...

Problems of a flue that's too long

Just an update for everyone, I spoke to a couple of other CORGI guys this evening, one came and had a look at the job, and they basically said the same as you all have that he should have fitted a condensing boiler. They seemed reasonably happy with the rest of the install and although they...

Problems of a flue that's too long

Interesting to hear about the flue, I guessed they must take a worse case scenario although the guy at WB I spoke to didn't mention it at all. I've updated my profile to show an email address but I can't see it shown anywhere but hopefully that's me being blind. If you can find it then...

Problems of a flue that's too long

Hi All, Just spoken to the CORGI guy again at length and basically he's not happy and in his opinion and the property is exempt from needing a condensing boiler and as I asked for and accepted that boiler it's my fault and he won't pay to change it. I've spoken with CORGI and they say the...

Problems of a flue that's too long

Hi Tony, Yep I called CORGI when I first contacted him re a quote and also last week to recheck his name and company name against their database and he is registered as being suitable for gas and central heating work. I first asked for a combi boiler with my only real requirements being a...

Problems of a flue that's too long

Hi Arf, As mentioned the other day we've already part paid for the job which included a number of other things as well as the boiler which have been done satisfactorily and we still owe about £1300 and I'm withholding that until it's all sorted. I have spoken to him briefly and have said...
