At the top and bottom you should see some kind of ramped block that helps the window locate and be secure. Is it catching on that, and not sliding down it? Could that be the thing that cause the original hinge to bend? (if it’s misaligned)

Are you sure you’re not thinking of soldering tabs welded onto batteries? You can buy batteries with tabs on already ..but if you’re having to go to such lengths because the battery is no longer made, what good is the phone likely to be, really?

Disagree, the braiding resists the pressure and appears in good condition but should be covered up so it doesn’t become damaged. The outer casing is to protect the braiding
