Whats the best way of removing floor tile grout so I can regrout?

Floor is chipboard from what I can see. Upstairs bathroom floor. I did use the multi tool and regrout in the end. It worked well and the job didnt take long but I have small pinholes in the grout at some points. Maybe I could of spent longer sweeping out the old grout powder which im guessing...

Can I put 100mm rockwool insulation in a 70mm space?

Thanks for the reply Pilsbury. So I guess it would work but not the best it could be. That doesnt explain why closed cell insulation boards cost more than the open cell polystyrene boards. Their theory seems to be the denser the better.

Can I put 100mm rockwool insulation in a 70mm space?

Im wondering if I can compress this stuff to fit in the gap available. I want to add a floor on top of the old loft floor (cross hatched) using the smaller profile studwork timber (wickes £2.45 stuff) then add some insulation in the void before putting the loft boards over. I cant see it causing...

    Drainage gulley clearout

Hi all, I wasnt sure where to put this question but I guess its kind of linked to guttering. I have some drainage channels (ground level) the ones that are 1m long with metal grills on top. Ive noticed some small stones have found there way in there. How are the grates/grills removed so I can...

Drilled through to neighbour's garage side

I would plug the holes with mortar not filler if possible. The mortar colour will blend in or be less noticeable. Having to stare at the white filler will just annoy her years down the line and she'll hold a grudge.

    Best material for a desk

I would make a frame out of studwork timber outlining the desk area and attach them to the wall (levelling with a spirit level first). Then plonk some painted MDF over the top and screw into the studwork timber. You could put some door jam wood or batten over the front edge to protect the MDF or...

    Driveway gravel

Ring a company called Earthline and ask for limestone scalpings. Cheap as chips but might be a minimum of 5 tonne order. That might be enough for your project there if not maybe you can use the excess on a garden path. You can get landscaping membrane (the plastic stuff not the felt stuff). I...

Whats the best way of removing floor tile grout so I can regrout?

Nice, thanks for the reply. I have the multi tool attachment courtesy of aldi recently so shall give it a go. I did try with a grout rake and it did remove quite alot but not enough to do a lasting repair. My only concern with the multi tool is that it could clip the edge of a floor tile and...

    Digging up pottery

Digging is boring. I usually have other jobs on the go at the same time so I can divide the digging up. Ive just been renovating my parents property slowly but surely the last 6years. Mainly fence post digging and the odd bit of drainage but occasionally a trench dig for underground power cables...

    Window Tinting

If the glass is curved you might need a hairdryer or heat gun to "stretch" the film. I would only have a go as a DIYer if you have a car with flat glass on the parts youd be tinting. Plenty of soapy suds using a plant sprayer bottle on the glass and the film. Use an old gym membership card...

    Loft Advice

It does seem a bit of a wide span doesnt it for joists. If you got the headroom you could cross hatch a new floor on top of the old floor also.

    Loft Advice

You could also add some type of noggins inbetween the 1450mm span prior to laying the boards. studwork timber should be fine for this.

    Loft Advice

You can get 22mm chipboard flooring exactly like loft boards but longer. They are still the same width as loft boards so you should be able to get them through the loft hatch. 2.6metres long if I recall correctly. Just lay them opposite direction to joists and offset the next board. It depends...
