    Telecom wireless bell batteries

So an update for anyone who needs to do this... When I put the new batteries in (wearing ear defenders lol) the box tamper was activated and the internal sounder sounded, but not the external one. Strangely the box stayed in tamper even when I armed and disarmed the alarm. I ran a bell test...

    Telecom wireless bell batteries

Hello Telecom Premier Elite with a wireless bell. Batteries are around five years old so have had a good run! No low battery alarm but went straight to supervision fault and I suspect the batteries. I have 8xlithium AAs. As there is a supervision fault I can try the bell disable by pressing...

    Boiler maintenance, with minimal use?

My Worcester has an an anti seize cycle that runs the boiler for a short period daily if it hasn't been used. So I would put on heating for 20 daily and then hot water for 20 daily to cycle the diverter too.

Most economical way to heat a house

Assuming you have a condensing boiler (one less than about 20 years old) then the lower the flow temperature the more efficient the boiler.

Opening for balanced flue inset fire

Gazgo seems to have some interesting products. They do a "zero clearance" that they say can go into a plasterboard rough opening. Any experience with it?

Opening for balanced flue inset fire

Hi I'm planning an extension. The living room will have a fireplace with balanced flue inset gas fire. Should I make the opening the standard 410x560 and is 250 enough depth? How does it need finishing eg bare block at the back and plasterboard or cement board to line the opening? Also how...

Is this on the stairs? You often get something called a borrowed neutral where the neutral is taken from two circuits.

Fixing camera to flat roof or to tiles

Hi I have some construction work starting soon. It's a bungalow with a flat roof bay. The front of the house is busy with guttering, lighting etc and I've identified the best mounting points for a dome CCTV camera as either: 1. On the bottom row of concrete roof tiles 2. On the lead flat roof...

DeWalt Oscillating multi-tool - type of blades needed to cut through hardened screws?

Surely it's better and quicker to remove the screw and put in one of the correct length? Otherwise agree with an angle grinder, if it's fencing not cabinetry then no one will notice a small gouge.

    Garage conversion gas pipe

To detect where the pipe is you can hire and cat and Genny. You clip the Genny to the pipe and it makes the pipe emit RF. You then swing the cat back and forth and it beeps when over the pipe.

40mm into soil pipe - need a trap?

Practically speaking you could change the elbow coming out of the wall for a Tee and then connect the rainwater into the top of it. Regs wise, I believe that even in a combined system the rainwater and soil should be separate until they reach the sewer. Otherwise if there is heavy rain or leaf...

    Downlight Conundrum

Can you pull one out and take a photo? They need a longer length of exposed copper than you might expect, hence not being retained properly. You shouldnt be able to pull them out easily. It may be that you need to strip a little more. You also need to sleeve the earth...
