SOLVED - A Question about Eurostyle Lock Replacement in uPVC doors

Rear door is solved! There is a 2.5mm Allen screw retaining the lock. I was pretty sure that (a) we hadn't given the company (Everest I think) making the door a lock to fit and (b) that I'd replaced the lock myself sometime in the past. Now to have a look at the Porch Door. XRD

SOLVED - A Question about Eurostyle Lock Replacement in uPVC doors

Nope @opps. There is some movement of the lock in the rear door but no matter what the orientation of the key, I cannot remove the lock. Given that I have swapped over numerous Eurostyle cylinders, I know that getting the correct key orientation can be somewhat tricky, but no joy whatsoever...

SOLVED - A Question about Eurostyle Lock Replacement in uPVC doors

Okay - here you go. Each picture numbered for ease of identification. Pictures 1-4 are of the front door. There may be an attached bit to the right-hand door (mullion?) There appear to be 4 screws that may retain this but I havent tried to remove this piece yet! There is no lock...

SOLVED - A Question about Eurostyle Lock Replacement in uPVC doors

Okay so a question (pics will be posted tomorrow after being taken in daylight!) I am in the process of moving house. We have five uPVC multi-point locking external doors. All of these doors have high-security ABS locks on them. Three of the Eurostyle cylinders are easy to remove - the...

Possibly a Building Regs Question about Plinth Heaters??

An interesting and informative post @flameport, but how does this relate to a plinth heater as the document is talking about lighting (or more specifically, halogen bulbs)? Also, your typed post talks about Zone 3 but there is no Zone 3 indicated on the diagrams (unless it is the 'Outside...

Possibly a Building Regs Question about Plinth Heaters??

As the thread title says, this is possibly a Building Regs Question about Plinth Heaters. I find them very effective. I'd like one in my bathroom (away from the bath, sink, shower and w.c. obviously. Can one be fitted in a bathroom or is it a big 'no-no' (I suspect I already know the answer)...

Need help to identify this fixing

Brilliant, thank you chaps. You’ve got it spot on or should I say “You’ve hit the nail on the head” Many thanks, especially denso13 for providing that link. Mr Rusty made me think of watching The Magic Roundabout on TV as a kid just before the news with Florence, Dougal, Ermintrude, Dylan and...

Need help to identify this fixing

Not sure whether this query should go here or in General DIY. Mods, please move if you feel it is appropriate, thank you. Trying to sell a cot/bed. We have all of the fixings for the toddler-sized bed. The high-sided cot version is missing eight of these fixings (pictured below). In order...

Allowable Cooker Connection Unit outlet plate positions behind built-in oven?

Quite right (bit in red). It is the medium - be it a liquid like water or a gas like air - that moves upwards (because it is less dense) whillst the coder (more dense fluid - be it liquid or gas) falls. Incidentally, this wouldn't happen at all if it wasnt for gravity. [Bit in blue]...

    Bathroom Underfloor Heating Query (Vinyl)

Thank you for your reply. Thinking of fitting a heating cable rather than a mat. What sort of board or insulation is suitable to go over the cable but under the vinyl floor covering? Thinking of using this kind of decoupling mat over the insulated floor. Can I just put a marine plywood...

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000 Life Query

Hello, I hope someone can (a) shed some light on what is happening here and (b) how to sort it out! What happens is this. Mid-afternoon, roughly 3:00-3:30ish, the boiler 'wakes up' and it sounds like the pump is running. However, both the central heating and the domestic hot water is also...

Electric Underfloor Heating in a Bathroom with Vinyl Flooring

Thank you for your reply. Does anybody else have any input? For example, can a competent DIYer fit underfloor heating to a bathroom? I'm planning to have the mains connection, RCD protected of course, in an adjacent room with the thermostat in the bathroom itself but at least 1m from any...

Electric Underfloor Heating in a Bathroom with Vinyl Flooring

Hello, Just looking for some advice in advance of undertaking any work and/or getting quotaions. We have a very tired bathroom floor - a 'traditional' suspended wood floor and floorboards with sealed cork tiles over hardboard. This has lasted some 28 years but is going to be replaced. We are...
