    If installing non maintained self contained emergency lighting luminaires (as a requirement imposed for a multi-occupancy letting) is there any regulation to also provide a local test key point ? Testing can still be carried out by turning off the breaker..Installation will be a lot cheaper...

    The windows I was trying to match were the light oak pvc type. I was unable to source any plastic grilles in light oak so had to go for white, which looked OK as the soffet/facia was white. Thanks anyway.

    Why would you want to renew the cables after you have just rewired it ?? Why go to the hassle, time and cost to wire in conduit when you can just bury the cables (that will outlive you) in the plaster ?

    Please post your version of para 2 of 543.7.3 as the version I have does not state in plain english that 2.5/1.5 is adequate when used to form a RFC with a high integrity earth. Also diasgree that if you can count 2 cpc's in a socket or in a consumer unit that they are separate conductors...

    Being buried in a (non insulated) wall does not cause any "problems" for the cable, as plaster/brick/masonary etc is not thermally insulating. This is deemed to be reference method 1, and is the same for the purposes of current carrying capacity of the cable as being clipped onto the surface.
