    Puzzle of the Day

Probably you did. Our latest freezer, isn't a problem, but it's predecessor, wasn't a frost free - hence no defrost drain. You would go in for an item, close the door, then release you needed something else. It would totally refuse to reopen. Yes, mine is the same, or maybe worse... When I...

Important information Preparing for a power cut.

It does state 3 hours, which is like with that very idea in mind. With a chest freezer as you say, not a problem even if the door is opened, with an auto defrost upright as I have said many times it depends on how close to the defrost cycle. As I have said before a few years back I had a...

Defrost cycle - over 10 Celcius?

This model doesn't have a freezer section Harry it's just an integrated fridge. So like Eric I am puzzled why it needs to defrost. The user guide says that moisture can form on the inner covers and run down into the evaporater tray but doesn't mention ice forming anywhere.

Defrost cycle - over 10 Celcius?

A fridge working hard, can accumulate frost on the 'heat exchanger', but a combined fridge/freezer, frost free, will definitely need a defrost cycle.

    Fridge compartment iced

Even though your Hotpoint fridge freezer is labeled "frost free," the ice buildup at the back of the fridge compartment (as seen in your photo) suggests the auto-defrost system isn't working properly. This could be due to: Blocked air vents – It’s packed in there, and airflow is key. If cold...

Ice forming in bottom of Indesit Fridge Freezer

Yes frost free & I did look at other posts. Most advise the issue but I was asking as to where the drainage hole / pipe etc is located just in case I could remove something but sounds like the issue is a build up of ice.

Ice forming in bottom of Indesit Fridge Freezer

Is it a Frost Free Freezer? Dozens of threads about this common problem of clogged ducts. (See below) Keep it open until water stops dripping, both inside the cabinet and into the collection dish at the back (Clean out the dish) The start of the problem might have been leaving the door open...

    Electricity tripped

This takes me back, around 1990 I returned from the Falklands to Sizewell 'B' in Suffolk, and the 10 years of working abroad had seen the introduction of the RCD. The safety features were clear, but the lack of switching on the neutral, caused loads of problems working out what had caused the...

    Defrosting freezer

Wrap all the food and put it in a cardboard box, inside another cardboard box. Anything that thaws, cook and eat. Or you can freeze stuff like casseroles if freshly cooked and cooled. Meat and fish are particularly dangerous if they get warm So called "frost free freezers" are the worst...

How often does a frost free freezer normally defrost?

All the tec stuff is over my head but could it be that you are storing different products in one as compared to the other. Making it come on more often. I can only think of ice, we have a frost free fridge freezer and notice that if we make our own ice in a tray and do not uses it then...

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

That is what I always assumed, but it is actually not the case. I've worked it all out now, with thanks to a very helpful youtube video. The defrost element is integrated to the cooling evaporator. This freezer also has a secondary pad heater to keep the fan frost free. Basically the...

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

Every so often I test my freezers, I was testing the chest one, now moved to upright one. I can see the peaks where the defrost heater has come on, but it does not seem to be at a regular time, some days no peak, other days two peaks, so not sure how is senses when required, previously we had a...

How often does a frost free freezer normally defrost?

I presumed (and I stress the presumed) that they are 'frost free' because they de-humidify the air in the freezer (and do not actually defrost).

How often does a frost free freezer normally defrost?

I have been monitoring the chest freezer, for some time, and thought time I swapped the monitoring unit to the upright inverter drive freezer, and compare the two, not long enough yet to see average use really, but I expected to see a peak where the defrost elements have cut in, seem to...

    RCD keeps tripping in kit

Re-reading, I am also unsure, technically a RCBO is a RCD, with the MCB combined in it, but not sure if you're getting a MCB and RCBO mixed up? A RCBO will have a test button. I am now thinking you had nothing to do with the re-wire? However, you should have the installation certificate, which...

    RCD keeps tripping in kit

I check the leakage, for the whole house, but it does show all circuits together have an 8 mA leakage, so well within the 9 mA allowed for each RCD/RCBO, but to measure is the only way, and can't see why you should buy the meter. As said The major problem is the likes of frost free freezers...
