Adding air break to stop siphoning

Definitely getting siphoned. The two waste pipes combine on the outside wall as seen in 1st pic. Gravity then kicks in. The basin siphon is working as I can hear it in action.

Adding air break to stop siphoning

Hi again. Took the first step of changing the pedestal trap. The basin is draining far better now. However the bath trap is still getting siphoned. Next step will be to remove the bath panel and check if it the trap is shallow.

Adding air break to stop siphoning

Thanks. That may well be the best option. Would the two verticals each need an air break at their respective tops? It should be easy enough to tee them in if needed.

Adding air break to stop siphoning

Thanks for suggestion. It’s a pedestal setup with straight vertical. Might struggle with anti vac trap I think. See photo.

Adding air break to stop siphoning

Hi all Need some advice please. The wash basin in out bathroom is siphoning the water out of the bath p trap, allowing air entry and smells. I’d like to add an air break on the exterior pipe work. My preferred and easiest location is location 1 in the image. All pipework is 40mm. Space is...

    Painting issue

Thanks again. Appreciate your input. Some of the edges on the leftover paint, of which there are 100s, could be 2mm. Most are less than 1mm. I thought these might have been sanded.

    Painting issue

Thanks for getting back to me. The thing is this is our painters work and he’s putting a second coat on next week. He’s saying there’s nothing he can do. I don’t have the knowledge to challenge him.

    Painting issue

Hi all Need some advice please. We started painting the house. The old paintwork had bubbled quite a bit. This was scraped off and was painted over as you can see in the pictures. It doesn’t look great. What’s the most economical way to get it looking smooth again? And would a plasterer or...

Join Bottle Trap to Waste pipe

Hi, I’m installing a basin and would love to have a chrome bottle trap. The basin is being recessed into a partition wall. Getting a compatible trap and waste pipe is proving difficult. Would these three work together...

    Space requirements for 550mm cylinder

Thanks for following up. I've put comments below. 1. What is the width of the space beyond the door? ----- 80cm width behind the door 2. Provided width is around 1 metre, might be tight but should be doable. ----- The 1m is the depth. If pipework is parallel to the door then there might be an...

    Space requirements for 550mm cylinder

Hi all, Am hoping someone could give me a steer on this. We're doing some remodeling work in the house together with changing the entire central heating system. The likely cylinder (300l, vented with solar compatibility) for the heating is 550mm diameter inclusive of insulation. I've read...

Bedroom Wall - Damp smell and plaster blown near chimney

Hi, resurrecting this thread. We got a photo taken of the capping. Would you think that the lines shown are cracks and would water be getting through and cause a problem in the room? Many thanks.

Bedroom Wall - Damp smell and plaster blown near chimney

Thanks Vinn & Roy for taking the time to look at this and to give me your views. It's a tricky one indeed. With limited funds, what do you think is the most economical way of approaching it. I'm conscious that scaffolding would be needed and should only be set up once. I think that the place...

Bedroom Wall - Damp smell and plaster blown near chimney

Hi all, Would really appreciate some direction on where to start with a problem we're having. My daughter's bedroom always seems to have a damp smell in it. The room used to have a chimney that's closed up for a long time (there is a small vent where the fireplace used to me). You can see in...

    velux reveal

Hi all Am currently converting our attic and have used a specialist to install 3 velux. The reveals at the top of the windows are perpendicular to the window as opposed to being parralel with the floor. In other words the reveal points downwards at an angle. It cuts off the view and...

Damaged Plaster on Inside of External Wall

Actually, one thing I forgot to say is that when I tap around the hopper area, there is a hollow sound, whereas in other areas it's a much more solid sound as one would expect.
