    Broken Bathroom fan

Cant see is being a problem to replace as it's all accessible in the loft albeit a bit awkward. If they're independent I can just replace the fan part of it and leave the existing light and keep the new one in case that also goes, but my main question is really is this fixable by replacing the...

    Broken Bathroom fan

Hi guys, I've got an in-line bathroom fan and light fitting above my shower cubicle, the light works fine but the fan has stopped working. I've been up in the loft and found the part number and located the product: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Extractor-Fan+Light-Kit-with-Timer-100mm/p/199801...

    Garden furniture restore colour

Hi all, Does anyone have any recommendations on the easiest way to restore some colour to my wooden teak garden furniture, which has started turning grey. They are in their 2nd year, last year I protected with teak oil when they still had colour but I'm pretty sure this isn't going to make a...

Boilermate 2 Primary return to heat generator?

The primary pump is the one that runs when the boilermate calls for heat from the heat source. So essentially, for some reason either the boilermate thinks that the stored water is not up to temperature and hence not shutting off the pump, or the pump is not being told to turn off even though...

Anyone on here having problems using the NEST APP?

Send a tweet to @NestUk_, they're pretty quick at severing a response. Also their online help documentation is very comprehensive. I suspect there'll be a page to help troubleshoot your issue.

12v PSU for 3rd Generation Nest Thermostat

5v is supplied from the USB if you wish to power this way. 12v comes from the heat link.

12v PSU for 3rd Generation Nest Thermostat

To answer your original question, I've been using a 240v/12v transformer for a couple of weeks to power the Nest, working absolutely fine. Had it confirmed in the Electrics UK forum before I did it - see thread below...

Thanks for all the help guys, wired it all up today and all is working fine.

Reducing 230v to 12v for Nest

Yeah exactly that. If I can reuse the old thermostat wiring then I can position the Nest in the ideal location mounted on the wall. The spur is in an airing cupboard so any modifications in there is also out of sight.

Reducing 230v to 12v for Nest

Apologies, it's 12v from the heat link and 5v from the USB. That's for the replies, will report back when I've got this hooked up hopefully tomorrow.

Reducing 230v to 12v for Nest

I reckon about 3m Max. Not got the book on me at the moment but I think the plug only supplies 3v so it will work with much less.

Reducing 230v to 12v for Nest

It does but I'd have to run a new wire from the garage to the hallway which I don't want to do as it would mean a lot of mess chasing out walls etc.

Reducing 230v to 12v for Nest

After installing Hive and finding the thermostat overrun is shocking and doesn't control the temperature properly, I've gone and bought the Nest. What made me choose Hive over Nest originally before was not having to hard wire the thermostat (don't want to plug it in and have wires showing). I...

Anyone else sick of reading Nest & Hive threads??

It's amazing the amount of people who moan about having to give out DIY advice on a DIY forum. For some reason seems to be more prevalent on the Plumbing & CH sub-forum than anywhere else, not sure why. Almost certainly the reason for an influx of Hive questions is it was a Black Friday deal...
