The current TT is a single (looks like 3/8") copper plated spike. Probably 4 ft with 4" above ground with a 10mm earth cable from the clamp to the main consumer unit. Not really sure whay you mean by appearance. It looks like a weathered earth rod!

No, that's how the "professional"roofer did it a few years ago! Jobbing builder used some sort of bonding cement fillet and a flashing. Couldn't see the details because as I said, can't get on the roof. Didn't leak after the rain the other night. £100
