    Landing+Bathroom on one 3 gang

Yes they might or might not be two or three circuits running those switches so check for that and then isolate the circuit(s) before proceeding. Some of us would deliberately make two circuits appear in one box (or adjacent boxes prefereably) in order to join two circuit earths together in...

    Shed Power

You might even consider 1 x 2.5 cable suitably changing in the mcb or fuse if this will accommodate your maximum demand via careful planning of accessories and volt drop considerations etc etc but I do agree that running a larger cable would likely give you more headroom for what you might need...

Is it acceptable to connect a radial to a spur via a 13A plug?

Hah - an extension lead with a plugtop in connecting cables to a fixed lighting circuit (plastered into the wall) , is that lighting circuit fixed mains wiring and the fact it`s run from the extension lead then does this make it a part of the circuit that is not fixed mains wiring ??? It needs...

    Shed Power

And measure continuity to be sure they are not just two radials connected as one circuit - seeing if all sockets are fed from two cables not one might give you your first indication of that and measuring could confirm it

EICR - would this be inspected?

Spot on Eric, parts of what you said I might disagree and other parts I might agree. In my humble opinion there seems to nothing wrong in removing the boiler cover to take a peek and that`s what I would do then replace it, So long as I do not go into any gas chamber part of the set up, opening...

EICR - would this be inspected?

Sorry I was not being clear, Sunray is correct about the boiler, I meant the piece of flex feeding the boiler from the Switched Fused Connection Unit or whatever. If the stat is an old traditional wall mounted hardwired type then yes it would be on the list to be inspected I reckon although...

    Consumer configuration query

Well - first of all let me admit that I have a front end RCD consumer unit - One RCD for the whole installation. This configuration is now considered "old hat". The next move was to have dual RCDs - one RCD for some circuits and the other RCD for the other circuits. Sensibly mixing up and down...

EICR - would this be inspected?

Yes of course it should be spotted - is it a "Drive By" ???

    SWA across concrete footpath

Looks like you are considering volt drop and want the highest proportion of the expensive electricity to be available at the appliances you are anticipating using. Not always the most economical method but does have its merits.

Is it acceptable to connect a radial to a spur via a 13A plug?

Nothing in the overall principles prohibits it providing that all of the rules for safety apply, cable fit or purpose to carry the current and mechanically protected where appropriate etc . Yes might be considered ruf but hey ho providing no more dangerous than all the usual things we wouldn’t...

Spot light in kitchen need replacing for fire rated

Demand a refund for unsatisfactory goods/services and if you paid via card you could ask your card issuer to refund it. I’ve done that twice and the refund was made in less than 10 minutes after o requested it the firm has a while to appeal it. They did that once and the card issuer rejected...

    RTS turn off

Or two meters? One for normal and one for off peak run by a time clock such as the old mechanical one you mentioned?

Have You Ever Seen This Before On A Ceiling?

But surely you could have used your long pointy stick, most people carry a pointy stick constantly to poke miscreants in the eye with, the majority of those people make it a long one or a telescopic one thereby increasing permissible usage and/or scope of usage, its just common sense, innit?

Have You Ever Seen This Before On A Ceiling?

Are you refring to the switches, the luminaires or both? I have seen a switch for a bathroom extrator fan on a ceiling just once (because it was I who installed it as a means of isolating the fan whilst avoiding the then zones).

No one near me wants this job - New ground rod

I`m not actually aware of (in the UK) any specific mention of the distance of the electrode to the installtion earth reference of the supply concerned. Of course I might be wrong. I can see that a limit on the distance might be desireable in any event though.

No one near me wants this job - New ground rod

Yes John, all agreed, it`s a guess once all told, a few facts and figures in limited tragic cases some of which were not purely accidental too . therefore we have a clue, but it`s only a clue and not munch more in reaility however cleverly we try to use those clues - we can`treally do much else...
