I carried a stock of bits on the van to be able to swap boards if necessary. I had boards, RCDs, RCBOs, MCBs, main switches, blanks, tails, Henleys rods, you name it. It wasn't unknown for me to do a board change at the weekend or in the middle of the night.

I too have done several emergency board changes. By emergency I mean that the customer has found the board melting/ sizzling/ burning away and has turned everything off. Then I have come along at my earliest opportunity (often within an hour or two, sometimes the next morning) and swapped...

Nobody is forcing them to do that job. Presumably they are there because they want to be there. That reason varies obviously, depending upon who you are.

That's a very mean, low comment. The vast majority of people have never attacked and would never attack another person, except perhaps in self defence. To go further and say what you said is just absurd.

I was going to say just that. If the tiles won't come up, rip them up, floor and all. And I find it odd that if the plumber was having relative success getting them up, why did he stop and leave a load for you to do?
