Yeah I thought someone might pipe up and say that. All I can say is we had a water softener. Disconnected it for a time. Got limescale. Installed magnetic limescale remover. Limescale reduced.

Magnetic limescale remover? They definitely do work (we are in a very hard water area and are happy with ours).

Yes. It is heavy, but to be honest not that much heavier than a regular 12.5mm board. I have some of that here as well and it’s around 20% heavier. I do appreciate the advice and one way or the other I will have a rethink.

Absolutely makes sense to explore ASHP options if you are replacing the gas boiler anyway- even more so with solar albeit granted you won't see much benefit in the winter months. UFH not required and probably unlikely you need to double capacity of all of the radiators.
