Washing Machine - Smelly rubber parts

Filter is clear and the pump seems to be ok although it is 10 years old so could be slowing down a bit. The vent hoses were blocked a bit so that could have been causing issues with draining but I didn’t have any drainage faults on the machine. I’ve run the cleaning cycle many times - it...

Washing Machine - Smelly rubber parts

Got some white vinegar and soaked that plastic part in it and it’s already started to come loose when agitated with a brush. I thought it was soap build up because it smelt of detergent but clearly not. I’ve left the hoses in the vinegar solution but will remove them shortly as I don’t want to...

Washing Machine - Smelly rubber parts

I've ordered some soda crystals which should come tomorrow. Will soak the parts in that overnight. Theres some dried on soap (looks like limescale but it has a frgrance) on the rubber parts, I dont want to scrape it with anything metal to avoid puncturing the rubber, is there anything I can...

Washing Machine - Smelly rubber parts

I've got a mouldy smell coming from my washing machine when it hasnt been used for a couple of weeks. I always leave the machine door open, take out the soap drawer, dry off the main seal and water inlet (the bit above the soap drawer). It's had plenty of hot washes, washed with bleach, washed...

    Mira Atom ERD Leaking

Hmm, might be best to leave it, I'd rather it leak on the outside into the shower tray than inside the wall. Cheers for the help!

    Mira Atom ERD Leaking

Probably the same weapon who installed the loft light and switched it on the neutral wire! I do remember there being some Z connectors behind when I had the shower off to replace the diverter outlet part. I've not come across these Z connectors before. I appreciate this is a difficult...

    Mira Atom ERD Leaking

I've got a Mira Atom ERD which seems to be leaking on the outlet to the diverter valve. I've replaced the insert which goes inside as it has O rings on it and I thought those had perished, but the leak remains. I put some PTFE tape on it and I dont want to tighten it further because i'll be...

    Radiator Side Panel Removal

The valve sticks out too far so the cut out doesn’t clear it

    Radiator Side Panel Removal

Managed to sort this. I lifted the side panels up as far as they go then the top grille slides to one side exposing one end then you can just pull the grille up. The sides aren’t meant to come off without taking out the bleed valve/blank. S*** design!

    Radiator Side Panel Removal

I've been trying to avoid asking this question because it seems stupid but, I can't work out how these side panels come off so that I can clean the convector fins of dust. The plastic collar around the bleed valve turns but it seems to lock onto metal behind. I can get the bottom off without...

    Worcester 24Ri Water Trickling Noise

It does sound like its coming from that area (where the translucent pipe goes into the boiler), does it need emptying or leave it be?

    Worcester 24Ri Water Trickling Noise

Yep, I've tried this but no harm in trying again, its due a chemical flush with Fernox so I'll be draining it fully and refilling with inhibitor but waiting more towards colder temperatures to do this so I'm not running the heating when its not needed. If it helps, the trickling noise happens...

    Worcester 24Ri Water Trickling Noise

Pressure seems fine (1.5bar), I haven't noticed it dropping.

    Worcester 24Ri Water Trickling Noise

My Worcester 24Ri has developed a water trickling noise which seems to be coming from the bottom of the boiler. As far as I can see, there is nothing leaking. To give some idea of the set up, I have an unvented cylinder in the loft and the central heating side has been pressurised so the...

Secondary Return Pump kicking in and out (with video)

To update this one, the gate valve below the pump was stuck so the pump was running dry. Leaving the pump off with the WD40 on the gate valve for a couple of days it eventually freed. Pump is now running almost silently and its getting warm as the hot water is passing through it (y).

Secondary Return Pump kicking in and out (with video)

The whole system is new but the house has been empty for a bit so its only been now ive been able to test it properly. I managed to free the valve but i'm not 100% convinced its working because the spindle doesnt move out as much as the valve above it. Never been a fan of these gate valves...

Secondary Return Pump kicking in and out (with video)

Could well be, i checked the gate valve below the pump and it seems getting stuck. Put some WD40 on it for now, any tips on freeing it up?

Secondary Return Pump kicking in and out (with video)

I have an unvented cylinder with the secondary return "circuit" plumbed in on the hot water side with a Grundfos Comfort 15-14 BA PM pump attached. The issue I have, the pump is 'pulsing' so it runs for a second or two, stops for a second, then repeats this. Sometimes, it makes a slight...

    Gate Valve Replacement

Thanks! I'll pick one up, hopefully i'll get lucky and it's a direct replacement. The water is already off and drained as I have another pipe which is leaking following an unvented cylinder install. Hoping this resolves the issue with the cold water supply to the bath and en-suite shower.

    Gate Valve Replacement

Cheers, do you know which one you replaced it with? I was looking to get this one: https://www.toolstation.com/made4trade-lever-ball-valve/p92144#reviewTab
