Spot lights for above walk in shower

I’m making a walk in shower. I’d like some good lighting in the ceiling above the actual shower area. So the area will potentially get steamy. What sort of lights should I be looking for? Ideally looking for spot lights maybe

Best practice for tiling over painted plasterboard

In my bathroom I’m going to be ripping out the green plasterboards in the wet area and putting in the fibre insulated backer boards and tanking it. But the other sides of the bathroom where it’s not exposed to much water or moisture is currently painted but is also green plasterboard. I want to...

    Tile to shower tray

Thank you. What about the 2 internal corners where tiles meet the 90 degree internal corner bends? What’s the best way to do those and does that need siliconing too instead of grout?

    Tile to shower tray

I’m going to be installing a 1700x800 shower tray soon and will be tiling to the tray. Before tiling I will tank the walls and use the corner and edge tapes for tanking. Question: do I leave a little gap between the tray and tile? I’ve read that there should be a gap and this gap should not...

Yorkshire Brass Solder Ring Adapting Male Coupler 22mm x 3/4"

I need to make 3/4" threaded connections to show valve body which I'm planning to use loctite 577 on the thread. As it will be concealed and hidden behind the wall, i dont want to use compression olive fitting after the 3/4" threaded connection. Instead want to just directly go to a soldered...

    Liquid lockthread instead of PTFE

Hi all, I'm planning to be fit a Hansgrohe iBox as part of a shower install. The main body of the unit has the 4 way threaded water connections. It's the type that needs either ptfe tape or Loctite 55. Since this entire unit is going to be concealed in the wall, i'd like to make sure these...

    Hansgrohe iBox

Update on this - I decided to return it just not happy with what I paid for a used item. Plus it’s also missing the tanking membrane that’s supposed to be included.

    Hansgrohe iBox

Watching some iBox installation videos I can see that this does indeed come unassembled so the previous person definitely assembled it. But since the olives and everything is fine I don’t think they installed it fully. But question would be how good is that fitting since it has some sort of...

    Hansgrohe iBox

I bought a Hansgrohe iBox from a seller who claimed it was brand new and never used—just something they bought for a project and didn’t end up installing. It was described as dusty from being in storage, which I was fine with. When it arrived, I wasn’t totally sure what a brand-new unit should...

    Polycarbonate sheet on pergola

Finally received the button to install the sheet. The plastic shank bit that goes into the drilled hole is just under 10mm (9.7mm) and the polycarbonate sheet says to make sure screw hole is 50% larger for thermal expansion. So should I drill a 15mm hole for each button?

    Reducing limescale in cistern

Thanks yes I meant the toilet Cistern as the hardware limescale seems to block up the rubber components too. Does that work on toilet cistern? Wont damage things?

Thank you all for the help and advice. It’s all good now. I shut all the upstairs ones then bled the downstairs ones and they started warming up nicely now. Another question. all of the new tails that I put on the radiators where I wrapped ptfe tape around the thread before tightening all good...

    Polycarbonate sheet on pergola

Correct the rafters are coming from back to front but since my pergola is right next to my lean-to conservatory which has a roof and gutter I’ve made the fall to go towards the back as the rafters sit slight higher than the conservatory glass roof so the polycarbonate sheet will essentially...

    Polycarbonate sheet on pergola

So the edge strips I will prefit before putting the sheet on the rafters. But wanted to ask what for tips on how to actually screw it down onto the rafters since the sheet cannot be stepped on. I read some places that putting a plank of wood or something like a deck board to distribute the...

Downstairs radiators cold after changing upstairs ones

I have a Glow-worm Ultimate 30c boiler and recently re-plastered the upstairs and remove 4 of the old radiators that were upstairs 1st floor as they were really aged and looking tired. I purchased new ones matching exact size and all lined up. I purchased new valves and kept nut and olive on the...
