I would doubt that there would be special tools as its just a case of removing driveshaft out of the way. normally loosen drive shaft nut, disconnect ball joint,pull steering to full lock and driveshaft should pull out. all in all about 2 hours if your not in the trade. hope this helps?

Are you sure the immobiliser light is going out as if it stays on or flashes then it will turn over but not fire,These vans have loads of problems with transpoders/immobilisers.

You might find it might be what i call a multifunction relay, which is normally brown in colour and is located under the bonnet on either flitch. It slots in to a black plug with a red locking device. When it fails to start try giving the relay a tap and see if it starts.
