    TRVs

You'd be a fool not to install them while you can. You will benefit from added comfort at the very least. Fuel efficiency is a big misnomer especially over two rads. As mentioned above, they are not exactly expensive but do make sure you get decent, serviceable ones. Drayton TRV 4's are the...

Adding a radiator, where to cut the pipes?

If you mean the regs for space heating in a conservatory it actually correct that it shouldn't be linked with the main heating system for the house and should be either on its own designated zone or a complete stand alone system eg electric heater etc etc. I'll dig it out when I get a bit of...

    Hacksaw blades

A dremel or similar with a decent cut off blade and a flexible shaft for tight places or a multitool with the correct blade. Bit more expensive than a hacksaw blade but you will find no end of uses for either once you have one.

    Cannot find 120mm x 4.5 / 5mm pan head screws!

What's behind the dot and dab insulation? I may be missing something (I'm tired) but can you not drill through to the substrate material and fix there? A deep enough fixing will cope with shear pressure and I'd also teach my child not to swing on curtains!

Thinking of replacing some rads, advice needed first

Thick what? How thick? How old is the property? Floor coverings? How big are these rooms/property? You have missed out a lot of what I mentioned above and all (and others) need to be taken into account. Help us to help you, give as much detail as possible or do as I suggested and Google heat...

Thinking of replacing some rads, advice needed first

Could be owt for nowt (admittedly paid in bills anyway but you still pay) Insulation could be provided for free under a few schemes which would not need the house to be actually heated to a higher temperature but stop it disappearing as quick which would not need an increase in fuel, possibly a...

Thinking of replacing some rads, advice needed first

As @Terrywookfit has mentioned but... Look into the actual insulation properties of your home or rooms. A bit spent here may be all that is needed. Heat loss calculations can be done online for a rough guide to help you out with an idea of your heat input to heat losses. You may be better...

    Removing olive from rad tail.

Ahh, olive splitters. They're OK but you need one for each size and still need access to the olive. I use these as they have yet to fail to remove an olive yet (that hasn't been strangled and destroyed the pipe) and does both 15 and 22mm. Jon

Which olive puller do you use @Madrab? Mine utilises the nut to remove the olive. Jon

    Blancoswift BM 1420 kitchentap disassembly

If you look carefully at the exploded diagram it shows that the containment body is threaded at the bottom and will screw into "4" the spout. A set of grips and a tea towel or similar to stop any scratching should shift it. It may be scaled up so a good soaking in wd40 or vinegar may help...

Can my oil boiler do hot water as well as CH?

Option two without a doubt although check flow rate and pressure of the mains cold water and if you have 20+lpm and a pressure above at least 1.5bar then I would look at replacing with an unvented to give you mains pressure hot water too. Benefits being that this opens up a whole lot of new...

    Suggestions for bathroom plumbing setup

Even a handle one, as you call it, will need it to be inside the bowl for it to function and you will be compromising water regs as you have a chance of contaminating the mains water supply with cat 5 waste. (fanny batter as it's known by some here ;)) You're only option of doing it correctly...
