the big Hiyundais are great value for a big, comfortable car.

But almost nobody buys them. People who want a big luxury car want a Merc, or a Jag, or a beemer. The badge on the front is what sells them. Even Toyota have to pretend their luxury cars are made by a company called Lexus.

Driven by "professional stuntmen" Yeah right. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D There's Hyundai's get out clause right there, when you have an accident in one. "Sorry,,,, you were not a professional stuntman "

Interesting article, but taken within the context of continued development, startup errors are going to happen until the bugs get ironed out, and they'll continue to happen, just not as often as a self driver would. I've seen the lane departure and sign recognition on a C-Max, and the self park system is amazing, and these things wouldn't have been heard of 5 years ago.

Actually, I test drove a Yeti in 2009 and that had self park. The guy demonstrating it told me to pull up and then he hit the button. Amazing!

But the C-Max now has perpendicular parking, so can be used in supermarket car parks - now that's amazing. The next generation will allow you to get out of the car, and then it will finish parking itself, and then drive it self out when you want to get back in, but there needs to be a change in the law before they can introduce that.

I was pretty impressed with the tesla's ability to do 90% of the work, including overtaking.

Nip down to a Bimmer dealer, test drive say a 335d then nip along to Hyundai and try an i30 or summit. Then honestly tell people it's just the badge.

It's a bit obvious a Bummer 335d will be better than a Hyundai i30 . Costs twice as much if not more.

Yeh. Sorry. I didn't realise quite what a crapbox the i30 was until I read up on it. My point being though, that it is not just a badge people pay for. They pay more for a superior product.

Is a Bummer a superior product? Or just clever marketing? Some people would eat dog poo if BMW sold it as chocolate. At least compare the i30 to a Bummer 116i.

I was comparing two mid range products but I've just googled the bottom of the range 116i and it appears to score higher in road tests than the Hyundai. Handles better, quieter, more comfortable, as ecconomical. It is a bit slow like the i30 but I think there is a 170 brake version about.
The Hyundai is cheap as chips though.
In answer to your question though, drive a few of each. See if you honestly find them equal.

Yes but it's a fat lot of good w*nking off over a BMW brochure when all you can afford is a Hyundai. Some people need cheap reliable transport and Hyundai provide that with a 7 (5?) year guarantee. Some people ( my near neighbour) are desparate to make people think they're better than they are. They have a BMW.

Already here on the 7 series BMW range and I believe the SMC Class Mercedes range. Possibly a few other of the high end marques too by now.
