We are converting out garage into a living space. There are six sockets around waist level where bench once sat. We need to lower the sockets only a couple of feet lower. Would it be better to strip all the wiring and insert new runs (Means ceiling out and replace) or would solder/crimp and heat...
We are looking for the easiest and quickest way. We have been told to self level, 120mm of insulation no wet trades then overboard. No need for a DPM as there is one under the raft. Other question is shuld we dot and dab the plasterboard and skim before laying the floor?
We are converting our garage into a living space, the floor construction is DPC, 2inch insulation and 10inch slab. We need to make up the floor level by 160mm. We are told we can just skim over with self-leveling as the floor isn't that bad, directly lay 120mm Kingspan, then lay directly ontop...
So could i assume that i would be able to lay 50mm insulation then 50mm screed without a DPM as the raft has one? We are also looking at installing bi-folding doors in the garage, would it be easier to install then screed upto the cills?
The garage floor is a raft, (overengineered about 10inch thick,) under the raft it has the Damp proofing and 50mm insulation. Straight of the slab the internal blockwork is constructed with 4in damp straight of the slab (again probably didn't need it technically as the slab already has a DMP)...
Morning all and happy new year, new this out of the way here is my question.
We want to convert our attached garage into a living space. The garage floor is 100mm lower than the inside floor, would it be possible to put a course of brick across the doorways (will have to have new shorter doors)...
Ok, guys here is quite a specific question and know I maybe should get an engineer to calculate my steel, however, thought would try as there is there some great help & info available here. What we are trying to achieve is to take most of the back of the house, to extend our kitchen.
Looking...
Bricklayer by trade however not being in the trade for years and I mean years, and things have changed to how we used to do it. I have dusted off my tools to build myself a garage. Its single skin 73mm bricks and need to put some piers in. Size approximately 5.2m X 3.2m. How many piers should I...
Have now got british gas looking at it 3rd person royal rip off but cannot afford to replace boiler (although may have to)has got everyone totally baffled.
There is nothing left only gas valve, pocheometer and thermostat everything else replaced.
Any ideas of top of your head?
Had new fan, aqua stat and thermistor, i disconnected the pump to take it out of the equation boiler run for so long then tripped again so cant be pump either.
Though maybe over sensitive trip so change to other side of board to different rcd that still tripped.
One noticeable thing once...
funny how when the fan and stat went (on separate occasions) the boiler would just sit on lock out doing nothing not tripping electric.
So i lean more towards something else as you say maybe pump.
Halstead technical help say due to it tripping electric it is a large component not a low voltage...
The mcb stays on it trips the main rcd on the board, i have not looked at the pump yet, but if a bad pump would this not trip straight away and not intermitanly?
I have a halstead best conventional boiler, that went to lock out and would run its cycle so we replaced the aqua-stat and away it went with a noisy fan.
Couple of months later boiler wouldn't cycle again the fan bearing finally gave up so the fan was changed.
Now you turn on the boiler...
