    Soil pipe collapse (pics included)

Thanks chaps. Tony the clay pipe should be rising upward towards the black soil pipe where it should meet a 90 degree (or thereabouts) bend up to the black soil pipe. Obviously in my pic above the 90degree bend is missing and the straight piece of clay pipe you see has dropped down...

    Soil pipe collapse (pics included)

Hi chaps, I dug away around one the bottom of one of my cast iron soil pipes and found that the old clay pipe that connects to the down soil pipe had come away and the rest of the pipe had dropped letting lots of lovely raw sewerage run under the house :? My plan was to dispense with the...

Hi folks, Her indoors has bought a dual fuel (gas/elec) cooker with inbuilt gas hob. The cooker is going on the wall and the gas feed pipe will run straight down the wall through the exterior wall to the LPG cannister outside the house. A straight run of pipe approx 2.5 metres long. I have...

House insurance that covers DIY issues

Thanks for the reply. My mates insurance did cover him, I just wanted to make sure my insurance did the same. I just wasn't sure if it was standard on all policies or not.

House insurance that covers DIY issues

Hi, As per the title really. Do all household insurance policies cover DIY issues ? The only reason I ask is that a mate of mine managed to drill through a central heating pipe and managed to flood the downstairs of his house  Do all insurance companies cover this sort of thing ?

Zanussi Jetsystem will not spin at speed

OK, so I've now whipped the top off, but there is no rear access panel. Would anyone have any idea where the motor is located ? Do I need to lean it on its side and inspect from underneath ? Thanks

Zanussi Jetsystem will not spin at speed

Sorry Leccy it's a Jetsystem 1600 - model no. FJDR 1666 W. The machine starts and finishes it's cycle it's just that at the point it should be spinning at say 1200RPM it's doing alternate gentle spins.

Zanussi Jetsystem will not spin at speed

Hi as per title really. It will gentle roll back and forth as it used to do before going into full speed spin , but it doesn't ever start the full speed spin. It completes the cycles as it should except this one. It also seems to be making a graunching noise (almost like a pump labouring). I...

It was behind a large picture / collage thing they have in their room. I don't know about you but I don't pull all my pictures off the wall every day to check for mould. Thank you all for the helpful elements of your posts.

Condensation and blue/green and black mould

Hi Folks, My daughters bedroom with 2 external walls has condensation, but what is more worrying is that there is a large amount of furry mould growing where the two external walls meet. To combat this the window is cracked open at 8am to 3.45pm, no wet towels or washing is left in this room...

Boiler being serviced tommorow some questions

Hi, My oil fired Worcester 15/19 (approx 25 yrs old) boiler is being serviced tomorrow. Can you tell me what I should get for my money ? Also I have been told that this boiler has a 'reserve' that can be realised by fitting a different part. The part name escapes me, but it was a jet or nozzle...

Worcester boiler - CH ok , DHW not

Hi Folks, Turned my heating on for the first time this year and we get hot rads but no hot water. In fact the water is cold. We have an immersion heater so it's not a big deal , but would be nice to know how to sort it. Worcester boiler is approx 25 years old and oil fired. Normally you...

Brush lost up the chimney :/

I didn't. I chose a brick at the halfway point between the roof and the loft floor and took a cold chisel and lump hammer to it.

Brush lost up the chimney :/

Well sorted it in the end with a little lateral thinking. Went into the loft and chiselled out a brick on the internal chimney breast. I could then reach through into the chimney and pull the brush out. Relaid the brick , job done.

Brush lost up the chimney :/

I have no idea what you are talking about which reaffirms my original opinion of you. I take it from your post that I am not the only one that thinks you're a nutjob ? A more intelligent person would glean something from that
