Bal single part - how strong?

I just found a cracked wall tile. I'm pretty sure the window fitters did it. It's on the reveal of a bathroom window, so one edge is now trapped under window trim. It's a Topps 8" bumpy white. I used BAL Single Part adhesive. The bloke in Topps said, after I realised I used two different...

    Oven switch/isolator on CU?

Not interested in fashion. Yes, I'm planning an induction hob too. Though that might be separate to the oven. But not far away. Can a double oven and an induction hob run off a single CCU? I won't be doing the wiring myself. This is to help my planning of what goes where.

    Oven switch/isolator on CU?

Exactly. That's why I think an 2 pole breaker on the CU might be better. It's near (2 metres) the oven, but not next to it. It the 'problem' is a fire I don't want to be scrambling round anywhere near the over. But stepping back out of the way to the CU would be OK. Though you'd have to read the...

    Oven switch/isolator on CU?

Thanks folks. As the RCBO will be new I can just specify a 3 pole one. I suppose I can put the isolator on the end of the stub wall, though there will be about twice the actual wiring to get it there. And at some point I think this might be very difficult to keep in spec as far as buried...

    Cupboards above induction hob?

Yes, I know kitchen cupboards above hobs is usually a no no. But I'm going to get an induction hob, so no naked flames and a lot less heat generally. I've just stood at a work top and mimed getting stuff out of a 300 mm deep cupboard, with some pans on my pretend hob. It really seemed OK...

    Oven switch/isolator on CU?

Thanks. Yes, the whole kitchen is a bit sub optimal. Just a double oven, eye level, in a built in unit. On the left hand side a free standing fridge, on the right hand side 13" of wall which comes out about 600mm. Then more worktop, probably. The hob will be separate. Yes, it means there's...

    Oven switch/isolator on CU?

I've had a search and can't really find a definitive answer. If anybody can point me to the relevant (free and online) section of the regs that would be enough. I'm planning the new kitchen layout. At the moment cooking with gas. Will be converting to a built in double oven. So that will...

Bay window replaced in uPVC - not up to fire regs

If I were trapped in just that room I could maybe, just, squeeze through the window. But it would be very tight and wouldn't be easy and would probably mean a bad, i.e. fatal/crippling, landing. Other people probably couldn't get out at all. Is it possible to smash safety glass at all...

Bay window replaced in uPVC - not up to fire regs

Mmmm. In terms of egress they are. They're the same 'pattern', exactly, in terms of number of windows, where the openers are etc. But the far greater size of the uPVC profile has reduced the opening size. I won't go round and measure next door's just now, but I'd imagine that the original...

Big side hung uPVC double glazed windows. Too heavy?

Getting quotes for windows. I've looked at fire regs and decided that if I'm going to consider means of escape I might as well do it properly. Personally it looks to me like in a panic even the regulation size would be a bit small. So on some of the windows I'd be looking at a side hung...

Bay window replaced in uPVC - not up to fire regs

We had 2 bow windows replaced - front room and bedroom, one above the other. Our house is a semi, the other half has the original windows. We kept the design the same. 6 vertical sections, divided by a transom rail about 400 mm down. I'm getting other windows around the house replaced so...

    x100 - why exactly 1 or 2 litres.

Just done some work on my CH. Drained down (though not completely). Added x400. Let it go through each rad on it's own (all the others closed). One by one. Will leave it for another couple of weeks, drain, mains water flush. When I fill back up, why can't I add 1.5 litre of X100? Does an...

    Flushing using Spirovent flush connector

Thanks for the caveat. Not sure I understand the problem. I'll be monitoring the pressure, so won't allow the pressure guage to get as high as 3 bar. It's on the front of the boiler, where the isolator valve for the cold supply is. So I'll be watching it just as carefully as I do when I've...

    Flushing using Spirovent flush connector

I've already got the flush connector. It was only £30 and seemed like a no brainer, as it just screws on to the same fittings as the other two things. Yes, I'm only going to do a cold water flush. The CH seems in reasonable nick now. But I had to drain it down to replace a leaking filling...

    Flushing using Spirovent flush connector

I've just fitted a Spirotech RV2 (de-aerator): http://www.spirotech.co.uk/en/products/spirovent-rv2/ and a Spirotech MB3: http://www.spirotrapmb3.co.uk While I was at it I bought their flush connector, at the bottom of the last link. The body of the MB3 screws off, and the flush...

DIY CH flush, Ecotec plus 831

I've read the instructions on this forum. Thanks for whoever put those up. I've got two filling loops. The built in one, which hasn't been removed, mains to flow. And another one, just under the boiler, mains to return. That one is leak at the isolator valve, so needs attention anyway. So...

New filling loop opposite way round to the old one. Or is it

In fact, I've just realised, thanks Agile, that my reverse flushing method wouldn't work with this, because I'd have an open mains.

New filling loop opposite way round to the old one. Or is it

Agile, thanks for the reply. This one, as sold and configured, has a DCV on the supply end, and an isolator on the system end. At least the way it's connected. If that's not up to regs then I can take it back to Toolstation and quote WRAS section XXX. Do you know what XXX is though? I'm sure...

New filling loop opposite way round to the old one. Or is it

Thanks for the swift answer. So those fittings are just standard compressions? Simpler for me if I can just take the Isolator off. Of course if I'd known that's all I would have bought. Embarrassingly I didn't know it had an inbuilt filling loop. When it was installed the engineer showed...
