    Won't it fit in the Jazz with the rear seats down, front wheel off obviously? I went through the mill looking at a long term bike carrier solution for the Golf, settled on a roof rack + bike carriers but I guess that's not ideal if it's difficult for you to lift a heavy bike up there.

    Your roof looks fairly typical, typically the principle for converting such a loft would be to fit a steel beam just above your existing ceiling joists beneath each purlin, then build a structural timber stud wall off the new beams to support the purlins, then any ties or struts can be removed...

    You need to increase/create better ventilation/air circulation. Zinsser products are generally very good but they won't achieve the impossible.
