    CUT ALARM WIRE

    Was decorating a room, when I accidently cut the alarm wire. Inside a the wire are numerous other wires (Green, Black, Red Yellow). Is it possible to get connectors for these types of wires in order to repair? And what is the proper name for these wires?

    Fitting an Ikea Kitchen

    Unfortunately the work tops are notwide enough, so I was thinking about tiling the gap or put some-other kind of material in the gap, i.e. a splash-back. Any other suggestions of what i can possibley use?

    I am slightly worried now. I was removing tiles from my kitchen with a hammer and chisel. Underneath the tiles were artex. As I removed the tiles, some pieces of the wall was coming away. :shock:

    It has been mentioned that artex contains asbestos. I recently removed artex from all of the walls in a room, before plastering and skimming the walls to make it smooth. Is artex harmful?

    CRACKS AFTER POLYFILLING

    There are new polyfiller products on the market that boast that they reduce the need for plastering. I have used such products to repair damaged walls. However when it dries, it cracks. Is there a way to prevent this?

    I am trying to solve the problem why my new shower tray after 2 months is not draining properly. The tray is fitted with a shallow water trap. It may be because of the water trap design, or the drainage out leading outside. The waste pipe is almost horizontal. Would that be the reason?
