    Electric lock tripping PSU

Correct, that's more or less the cause/answer I was given else where. The solution chosen was to add a 1Ω 10W resistor in series (instead of diodes above). Which then gives the 11.8/4.4 = 2.68A and the lock works without tripping the PSU overload protection! :) BAS, so you think the meaning of...

    Electric lock tripping PSU

Really? - Does everyone have to know everything about every subject!? You can't ask questions and get sensible replies?? BAS, you sound like a grumpy old man looking to find fault rather than actually help people which is a shame as I suspect you may actually be rather intelligent!? Let's test...

    Electric lock tripping PSU

The only info I have for the PSU is as above, 12VDC / 3A output - Using an online calc, I worked that out to mean the PSU can output 35W / 3.93 Ohms ? A couple of extra bits of info on the lock... 1) The "manual" (piece of paper) says 10W 8-12V 2) There two solenoids in the lock, I tried...

    Electric lock tripping PSU

Hi All, I have a 240v Access Control Power Supply which outputs 12VDC / 3A via a built in relay, connected to a 12VDC electric lock (which has two solenoids & a 1n5408 diode in parallel across the terminals) and a 12VDC RFID keypad. I purchased these as a project to help me learn about RFID and...

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

Looks like there is already an app for iOS in the App Store! (Which looks better than the vSmart too). Will this work in the UK if purchased online or do we need to wait for a UK release?

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

@kaos24 see bottom of this thread... http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/vsmart-and-migo.450451/ Two poster's mentioning an update coming, one of which I believe works for V.

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

@kaos24 no, I contacted Vaillant who was not able to answer my questions, so as there was so little info available I didn't want to be their Guineapig! :) I've since read on here that there are some more controls coming from Vaillant. The vSmart seems to be a bit limited in some respects and is...

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

I'm not! ;) I've had the control installed for 4-5 years now and understand in great depth how it works! (See here and here for some long technical threads on this) Whilst EvoHome may suit some very large homes, it doesn't appear to include the innovative intelligence features of the latest...

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

I still have my Vaillant VRT392 which despite it's poor UI, lack of easy access boost for DHW has been okay for the last few years. SHMBO keeps talking about Hive/Nest and their ability to control via an App, as a technology lover myself I too was interested but as we would lose the modulating...

How to unblock a 1200 Stelrad Elite Double Panel Rad

Turning all other radiators off, I still get the same issue. Running the IR over the rad I can see big differences between the verticals starting about a 1/3rd of the way across, if the water temp is increased to 60, there is a bigger delta of 20+C :( SWMBO keeps complaining about this room...

How to unblock a 1200 Stelrad Elite Double Panel Rad

Hi, Using a IR thermostat I noticed a couple of my radiators were reading around 50C at the top and only 40C in the middle/bottom. I have 10mm microbore downstairs so I decided to give the system a clean as I assumed the delta between top/bottom was due to magnetite. After emptying the...

    Concerning CET recondition pcb's

I'm no legal expert, however I would say that if a competent person knowingly fitted a 3rd party modified PCB (in whatever form that takes), they would be liable to the customer (I doubt you can legally disclaim against it either from a safety POV). The competent person would then make a case...

    Concerning CET recondition pcb's

I come from a different industry but I've just read this thread and believe the same principles apply here.... Here's how it works in my industry: 1) Manufacturer R&D's a new product (e.g. Boiler) 2) New product is sent to independent 3rd party lab for testing against all necessary EU...

New bathroom taps - pipe extension?

Looks like I may have found an ideal solution.... :) The couplings supplied with Drayton TRV4's are perfect to fit between the tap tail's and the isolator valves, just give enough extra reach and I have a few spares left over i could use!! :)

New bathroom taps - pipe extension?

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't looked at the copper push fit couplings, the problem I have is I don't have any spare 15mm pipe to extend it with so I was hoping to find a solution I could purchase inexpensively, can you buy "short" pieces of copper tube? :) I'm wondering if I cut the...

New bathroom taps - pipe extension?

Hi all, I have some new taps to fit on a existing bathroom basin, unfortunetly the new (flexible) tails are slightly too short to connect to the isolating valves attached to my 15mm copper feed pipes! :( I've been looking on screwfix/toolstation to identify some kind of suitable...

Replacement dual flush and inlet valves

just to say thanks! I fitted the 750 and valve today and all is well. I was a little apprenhisive about cross threading the valve when attaching to the feed pipe and had to retighten a few time to stop leaks but its okay now. If I had a choice again, I would go with the brass version. The one...

Replacement dual flush and inlet valves

Hi, I need to replace the innards of our main bathroom toilet, it's currently the old ball valve and syphon type with close coupled cistern. I've seen this new Fluidmaster PRO750UK & fill valve which looks to be ideal, have any of you guys installed / used one? - I've read a couple of...
