Mdpe water mains compression fitting tightness..

Thanks Ian much appreciated, I was right about not having an insert hense why it tightened right down. Just done a leak check though and its leaking very slowly out of the connection next to the meter ughhhh, luckily i've only put a bit of sand over the pipe so far..

Mdpe water mains compression fitting tightness..

Hi everyone currently replacing the lead mains pipe from the meter to my house, I am wondering about how tight I need to have the compression fittings (plasson). The connection at the meter it pretty awkward to get to but it feels damn tight (by hand) yet it still has some thread to go. I am...

    Recessed Gas Meter Box Spigot....

Hi everyone, I'm getting a new gas connection done shortly and wondered if I have to exit via the spigot in the back of the recessed box? I've cut out the hole for the box but don't want to waste my time cutting the hole for the spigot if I don't need to use it. The gas will be coming from a...

Should these joists be fixed to stop roof spreading...

Wow it's must be a huge chunk of wood in that case! I guess I'm wrong about the reason for their size in that case.

Should these joists be fixed to stop roof spreading...

I also had no idea what that was until recently, it's called a "Purlin" I can only assume it's size relates to how supportive it is of the roof, yours being smaller would suggest it plays less of a role in your roof. I would think it wouldn't need to be as big if it was supported into a solid...

Pipeing advice for concealed thermostatic shower...

Thanks for the replies guys, Re the 3/4 22mm, I had assumed you couldn't get 3/4 x 15mm so it had to be 22mm, but ive since found that you can get them, this is taken from the installation instructions of my valve I had though the hot and cold feed had to be 22m as they are G3/4. So straight...

Pipeing advice for concealed thermostatic shower...

Ah yeah maybe I was being a little vague with the just heating up comment, rest assured I didn't mean it quite literally but its very good of you to pick up on that and make me aware. I agree with you re the fittings I can always order them from the manufacturer still, they are compression...

Pipeing advice for concealed thermostatic shower...

Yes I have the valve on site but I opted not to get the additional fittings (at extra cost) just incase it wasnt what I needed as I had a 90 elbow version idea in my head at the time. Re the 50mm turning circle for the elbows I was thinking I could just attach them beforehand and then fix to the...

Pipeing advice for concealed thermostatic shower...

The shower will be fed by a combi boiler, that I am yet to actually buy (open to recommendations it is a 3 bed property), this will be a full re plumb throughout the house. Looking online (YouTube) I would be more confident with bending copper over soldering, but maybe it's harder than it...

Pipeing advice for concealed thermostatic shower...

Thankyou very much for the reply Terry, regarding the pipework being to the left I will also be battening out the right hand wall, I've got it layed out so the top showerhead falls exactly half way into the 800x800 enclosure (hopefully). I've read that copper work is almost as quick as push fit...

Hey everyone I'm just looking for some advice on the best way to connect up what will be my quadrant shower installation. This is the layout I have set up... Having little (if any) plumbing experience should I be looking to use copper? or will hep2o suffice? I have spotted these...

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Hey Everyone, I'm looking to insulate my loft but wondering what peoples thoughts were on the best way about it. The finish will be plasterboard and skim. Currently beneath the tiles it has a rough black looking material with about 25mm glasswool stuck onto the back in the most parts (see...
