What would you put in a new kitchen?!

Also currently in the market for some HA so would love to jump in here. Got a full DIY house renovation ongoing. Really like the idea of those Glass+ switches, would like to see how well they work. Also considered the Lithe audio ceiling speakers + a couple Amazon Echos but I think I might...

    Quick Bay window insulation question...

Hi everyone, currently doing a full 1920s house renovation and im going to be insulating the bay window. Just wondered between the ground floor and top floor the face section is currently just plastic fascia on the outside and wood panel directly behind fixed to studs. im planning on installing...

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Spotted on another forum that someone removed the top bricks from their wallplate to help the airflow in their loft. Does anyone know if these would have any purpose in my case they are already loose, I currently only have a roughly 10mm gap at the moment and very little airflow.

Insulating brick wall in bathroom for tiling...

Update... Decided to go with 45mm Celotex for between the battens, should I push it right back to the wall (in some areas this leaves roughly 2 - 5mm gap at the front set back from the battens) or should I just push it so far that it is in line with the battens (making the 2 - 5mm gap behind)...

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Will it not matter that not insulating right down to the eaves there will be only rockwool stopping heat/moisture exiting through the ceiling and up the sides of the insulated loft area.

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Im most likely going to have a few retro consoles up there and a TV on the wall. No furniture just a bean bag to sit on. I figured insulation needs to go somewhere so why not have it at the very top and have a nice tidy loft space.

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Hi again everyone, drawn up a quick image, just wondering if the celotex between rafters should continue behind the kneewall in the loft and down to the eaves...

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Thanks for the feedback you make a great point about the vcl being peppered with screws, and yeah its the bitumen type. Having gathered all the great advice on here I'm pretty confident in what is required now :). Having said that this little loft section of the renovation may well be getting...

    Wall preparation in new bathroom

To save space you could just take the render off and then dot and dab straight onto the wall, this would save the space taken up by the 2x2. The reason behind the 2x2 for me was so I could get some insulation against the cold exterior wall, I could have however dot and dabbed insulated PB...

    Advice on Shower Enclosure Please

How old is your house? If your bedroom floor is to regs there should be no problems at all, The floor joists in my 1920s house look big enough to withhold the weight of a tank! The weight of the glass will be partly taken up by the walls also. If its actually the walls your worried about you...

    Extractor hood in chimney breast

I'm currently in the process of full renovation and I am going to be installing a inset extractor into the chimney breast, it will be pretty much hidden as I am also creating a lip at the front of the chimney breast like you have (although not slanted), I will also be venting out the side of the...

    Bathroom extractor venting options...

Talking from no experience here but surely sending the warm air directly into the back of a cold tile using the above vent wouldn't be ideal? Unless in missing something. The tile vent I linked above says it has 8000mm²/m of air flow with the mechanical fixing adapter and Flexi pipe attached...

    Bathroom extractor venting options...

Thanks for the feedback guys much appreciated. I get the impression that the linked vent is just for general ventilation not mechanical, I was thinking this was maybe a good option https://www.aboutroofing.com/manthorpe-gtvcs-castellated-roof-tile-vent-red-grey-terracotta-red-brown.html with...

    Wall preparation in new bathroom

Im currently in a similar situation, I whipped the render off my walls and took it back to brick, literally took half hour if that with an SDS drill. I have since battened the wall with 2x2 and I plan to insulate between then foam and foil tape the gaps. The shower area will be Hardie backer...

    Bathroom extractor venting options...

Hi everyone, just weighing up my options for positioning the extractor in my bathroom. The bathroom is located at a hip end roof. Ideally I wanted to send it though the wall but it would be really close to the eaves which I understand isn't ideal due to moisture potentially getting back into...

Insulating brick wall in bathroom for tiling...

Hi everyone, quick update. Finally got round to battening the wall with 2x2 (50mm x 50mm) Would it be best to use foiled backed insulation inbetween the battens and then foam + foil tape all the gaps and over the battens?. I was wondering with the battens being 50mm should I use 50mm, 45mm...

    Looking for loft Insulation advice....

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Would using foilboard and foaming + taping joints suffice as a vcl? I've been thinking of purchasing a foam Gun for a while now since I started this full house renovation.

Mdpe water mains compression fitting tightness..

Ah yeah your certainly correct, I'm just connecting to a foot of pipe they have left sticking out from the meter, which I'm guessing is for the very reason you mention :). Already had to fork out 370 for a gas connection to be laid, if it were legal I would have tried that myself aswell haha.
