Worcester Bosch Oil Heatslave 26/32 loss of pressure - update

That's exactly where the leak is by the looks of it. It's all looking a bit corroded down at the bottom. Bit worried a new boiler will be required, mind you it is 14 years old.

Worcester Bosch Oil Heatslave 26/32 loss of pressure - update

A few weeks ago I asked about pressure loss on my oil boiler and central heating, and decided to isolate the flow and return with lever valves, so I could eliminate it being a leak somewhere on the radiator circuit. After much difficult work in confined spaces, and a few messy solder joints, I...

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

Why is it that after an initial flurry of opinion and suggestions, threads on this forum just fizzle out? I don't want to start a new thread, but I want to know if anyone knows of a lever valve like DP mentioned, i.e. one long end or slippable. I bought 2 of the Peglers from screwfix, but they...

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

DP are these Pegler valves suitable? They seem to have one end longer than the other. Or are you talking a more radical deep end than this? http://www.screwfix.com/p/pegler-ball-valve-red-22mm/45277

Would a metal cutting blade on a multitool work ok?

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

Thanks folks, the boiler is a Worcester Bosch Heatslave 26/32 oil fired combi. The service manual states: 9.7 It is strongly recommended that isolating valves are fitted to the central heating flow and return pipes. This will allow the boiler and Heatslave tank to be drained for service work...

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

So how would I install the slip coupler and the valve? Are you proposing I install the valve with a length of pipe sticking out each end, then make two cuts to match the length of that assembly in my original pipework, put slip couplers over the cut ends, position my valve/pipe assembly, then fix?

Sorry copea, how would slip coupler help me install valve?

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

Know what a slip coupler is now! How would that help? DP do you have a link to a lever ball valve with deep socket one end?

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

All seems good at the boiler John, though boiler is due a service. The boiler doesn't have isolation valves I think, as in the manual it recommends the installer should add them in to pipework, and I can't find any. Lever ball valves sound good. What is a slip coupler?

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

I have an ongoing pressure loss problem with my Worcester Bosch Oil Fired Combi. I want to install isolation valves on the 22mm flow and return pipes, so I can check whether the leak is in the radiator circuit or the boiler. These pipes are quite tight to a wall and rigid, and I think when I...

How to isolate WB Heatslave 26/32

Have inspected pipework using Installation and Servicing Instructions and the installer has not put any valves in for isolating the boiler from the heating circuit. Oh well.

How to isolate WB Heatslave 26/32

Yesterday I put a freezer bag with rubber band over the end of the discharge pipe from the PRV to see if it was dripping, but all that happened was the bag filled with a bit of air. So I assumed the PRV was ok. Following your advice today I located the PRV, and turned it anti-clockwise to...

How to isolate WB Heatslave 26/32

We have an oil fired Worcester Bosch Heatslave 26/32 combi boiler. It's always lost a bit of pressure i.e. topping up every week or so. However I came back from holiday and accidentally overfilled it, and something has obviously sprung a leak as now I have to re-pressurise it every few hours. I...

    Faux Brick Panels

Not sure whether this is the right forum - I need to source artificial brick panels. They are easy to find in the US, for example: http://www.textureplus.com/brick/ but I'm having difficulty finding a similar product in the UK. There are companies selling panels that use brick slips, but...

    Concrete Floor Insulation

I was planning to fit 100mm Kingspan between the joists, supported on nails, leaving a 25mm airgap underneath. On another forum, I've been told not to do this as it will cause condensation and rot the joists. The floor is not ventilated and as I said the joists sit directly on the concrete. Is...

    Concrete Floor Insulation

I want to insulate my office floor. It was built in the 1970s and consists of a type 1 base with DPM on top with a poured concrete floor. Sitting directly on that are 125mm joists with chipboard on top. I'm going to replace the chipboard with T&G flooring. What's the best way to insulate?

    Thermal Store Size Confusion

I've heard that the worst of the tar is caused by heating up the initial body of water in the boiler before it has started circulating. You can reduce tar by making sure you get a very hot fire going as quickly as possible when you light the stove by burning smaller bits of very dry wood. Also...

    Thermal Store Size Confusion

Terry Woofit wrote: What do you mean by cold input?? What dont you understand ?? I mean that most combi's inlet valves can't handle warm water, therefore couldn't work with a thermal store, though I was wondering if I could ignore the hot water circuit of the combi, and connect it via its...
