Sounds from Boiler - Normal or Not?

Thanks. I just thought it odd that it is only quiet for a couple of seconds sometimes.

Sounds from Boiler - Normal or Not?

Just had a listen for 10 minutes to double check. Noise starts and then gets louder (more whooshing) like I would associate with actual boiler heating on my previous non-combi. After a few minutes the noise gets quieter, like I previously associated with just a pump or fan running. Then...

Sounds from Boiler - Normal or Not?

We have a Valliant (is that how you spell it?) combi boiler in a new(ish) build house. No problems as such but want to check whether the noises I hear are normal. Boiler is located in a cupboard in the attic. House is barely a year old and we have lived here a few months. Just started...

    Whistling Boiler

The guy who comes seems very good, so if it should be done as part of the landlord checks then it will have been done I think.

    Whistling Boiler

It's serviced annually as it's a rented property.

    Whistling Boiler

Boiler has worked normally for several years now, so I doubt it was set up wrong. Only noticed this noise in the last few days.

    Whistling Boiler

Potterton Promax HE boiler started making a noise which sounds like a whistling noise for about 1 to 2 minutes after firing. Everything is working fine but just wondered if it might be anything to worry about. Thanks

Potterton Promax HE - Will it cut out if pump fails?

Thanks for the reply. I am definately going to risk it. I am not going without heat LOL. I have turned my stat down though and lowered the time it stays on for. Also not using hot water. All to minimise the pump use. Hopefully it will keep going until the plumber gets round to me but if...

Potterton Promax HE - Will it cut out if pump fails?

Thanks. Don't really want to disturb the pump as it really is on its last legs and I don't want to push it over the edge in the cold weather with no plumber for a week. What are the consequences of the flow switch sticking and the boiler still firing? Would it simply overheat and cut out or...

Potterton Promax HE - Will it cut out if pump fails?

I have the above boiler and my pump is on its last legs. My plumber has let me down and can't change the pump this week. If the pump fails while running am I right go thinking my boiler will realise there is no water flow and cut out?

    Radiators Hotter Than Usual

It is definately the pump knocking. You can feel it if you put your hand on it and the sound is definately from the pump. The hotter than usual feeling I only really noticed yesterday and this morning and I have bled the radiator yesterday so that is what made me think I may just be used to a...

    Radiators Hotter Than Usual

My central heating pump is knackered (horrible knocking rumbling noise when running). Any way - plumber is booked and is coming out later this week to change it. In the meantime however I have noticed that my radiators seem to be getting much hotter than usual and one in particular (the first...

    Rumbling Pump

Thanks. I guess I was more concerned about what the consequences of it failing were other than no CH/DHW. Will the boiler cut off or will it keep heating water but not circulate it and thus risk breaking something? Going to call the landlord this weekend and get the plumber booked.

    Rumbling Pump

Just bringing this thread back to life. Now the weather is getting colder I have actually started using my CH more frequently. The rumbling in the pump which I never did anything about because it seemed to go quiet has come back with even more rumbling. It feels rumbling when you put...
