Thanks. I guess I was more concerned about what the consequences of it failing were other than no CH/DHW. Will the boiler cut off or will it keep heating water but not circulate it and thus risk breaking something? Going to call the landlord this weekend and get the plumber booked.

boiler will still run on your boiler and if pump doesn't circulate water, will cause the water to make a kettling" noise inside the heat exchanger and probably cause an ejection from the vent pipe ino the F & E cistern. Unless your boiler has an overheat stat.
