German cooker hood use in UK

But what when one encounters a single pole switch/isolator in an extension lead or an appliance, and one has isolated the neutral conductor instead of the line conductor? Feels somewhat inherently risky to have a non polarised plug and socket system.

German cooker hood use in UK

My only concern would be if you cut the supplied plug off, the manufacturer may and try and claim that doing that invalidates the warranty.

How does 1.5mm T&E comply with table 54.7 in BS7671?

How does 1.5mm T&E comply with table 54.7 in BS7671?

Table 54.7 in BS7671 says that when the protective conductor is the same material as the line conductor (S), it must at least be the same size as the line conductor. Why does 1.5mm² T&E not comply with this reg when you have 1.5mm² line conductors and 1mm² protective/CPC conductor!? Can some...

Zapped by 14.5μF capacitor charged to 240V RMS!

Long story short, the other day I unwired the controller from a small mains hoist as it was being temperamental. I had already ruled out the the limit switches on the hoist it's self. Today I went to look at the controller and thus ran some basic continuity tests on the controller and the short...

Would this be an odd set up?

I try my best, but correct grammar has always been a weakness and struggle for me. I personally feel it is more important that one understands on what I am trying to convey. What I am struggling to grasp or comprehend is why it is not acceptable to post a members name in response to a...

    Flickering lights

Is that not common sense and obvious being that it clearly only isolates downstream of the isolator, not upstream to the meter/henley block. Of course, even when proved dead and the main isolator is switched off, it is still good practice to treat it as live and use caution!

Have you tried turning off and on a few time the affected MCB? Also check that all the connections are tight inside your consumer unit.

Moving master socket improved upload speed by factor of 6!

First of I know one should not move the master telephone socket and it is the property of BT Openreach, none the less my grandparents live in the Kent country side and have done for the last few years. Where they are living now, they have never had very good broadband speed. Typically getting...

18th Edition - Plastic cable clips?

With the 18th edition (don't have a copy yet), what applications can you still use conventional plastic cable clips? Do you have to use metallic cable clips holding cables on to joists in the void between ceilings and the floor above, and how about attic spaces? Regards: Elliott.
