Shallow built in oven? Who are Econolux?

I'm looking to replace an old Diplomat ADP3120 built in oven. The door seal and probably the thermostat have failed and this oven was "inherited" when our house was purchased 7 years ago, so its time for a modern replacement. Easier said than done! Thanks to a poorly position gas pipe for the...

    Omnipolar switch with 3mm opening!

I've checked everywhere and there isn't an FCU for the extractor. The junction box is fed by a 2.5 cable, which I can only isolate at the consumer unit. The earth cable was cut back and not wired to anything and only live and neutral were connected to the extractor. I've now installed a...

    Omnipolar switch with 3mm opening!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Using an FCU or a socket/plug has to be better than the previous installation. TBH, I'm not sure why they don't include a plug with the extractor hood.

    Omnipolar switch with 3mm opening!

Our oven extractor has failed, it would appear the motor has burnt out! I have purchased an exact identical model to replace it (Prima 60cm PRCH020), however I note the installation instructions state ".... a suitably dimensioned omnipolar switch with 3mm minimum opening between contacts must...

Advice on replacing built in oven

Yes they can, but not by me! I'm happy to avoid the expense of paying to have the gas pipe moved by purchasing an oven that will fit, even if that limits my choice.

Advice on replacing built in oven

Thanks for the confirmation, I suspected as much. Unfortunately, the badly positioned gas pipe for the hob rules out some of the standard fitting ovens I've looked at, due to their depth. The installed Diplomat oven has a sloping back which accommodates the pipe and I think the Kenwood I'm...

Advice on replacing built in oven

It states this in the specification details on the Currys web page, so I would assume so, although I haven't checked.

Advice on replacing built in oven

I'm struggling to find a replacement built in oven with dimensions and load rating similar to the existing oven. I've managed to find one that will hopefully fit, but the load is higher, so I need to ensure the existing supply is adequate. The existing oven is a Diplomat ADP3120 with a maximum...

Siphoning issue with vanity basin waste

The outside waste fed by the toilet and basin has screwable access on the bend (see photo). If I unscrewed this and flushed the toilet, do you think this would identify an issue? Not sure if the force of the flush would simply cause water to eject from the inspection hole and therefore wouldn't...

Siphoning issue with vanity basin waste

Earlier this year I refurbished our downstairs toilet and installed a new vanity basin, using the McAlpine Space Saver with self-closing waste valve as the trap as space was limited. 3 months after installing, I noticed that flushing the toilet resulted in lots of gurgling from the sink waste...

What's best ? Lead sealant or Mortar

I always find it difficult to trust what a tradesman is saying when I don't know them or haven't used them before. This guy was recommended to me by a friend, so better than just selecting someone from the internet! I did call him to discuss how he would re-point the flashing and asked if he...

What's best ? Lead sealant or Mortar

I realise it has been 10 years since the last post, but I've just searched for what is better to seal lead flashing; mortar or lead sealant and got this post. I've just had a roofer round who recons the reason my extension roof is leaking is due to the use of lead sealant rather than mortar...

    Repointing Random Stone House Wall

Thanks for the useful info George, it is much appreciated. As promised I've now been out on the extension roof and taken some photos. As you can see, they are very fine cracks, but I guess once water/frost gets in there it will start to break up even more. You can see that in the past, a...
