They would need a guard in the salt container to prevent the tablets escaping everywhere.

The issue with Harvey softeners is that they only take block salt which is expensive compared to tablets. A 25Kg bag of salt in my monarch lasts 3 months.

It's meant to regen when one cylinder is exhausted. Check the flow meter wheel is rotating when a tap is run

Check the flush pipe between cistern and toilet, also while it's off check the entry point in the pan.

Do you ever hear it regen? I've got a monarch twin softener and regularly hear it run.

It's easy to disconnect the diverter valve to eliminate it first if you wish, have a good look at the PCB for scorch marks or blown components while you are there.

The pump is driven from the motherboard, turn off the power to the boiler and unplug the pump, then try again, doe the rcd trip?

Is the pump internal to the boiler or external?

Sounds like a blocked secondary heat exchanger.

Clean it up and tighten the connection, not impressed with the live mains wires being exposed on the LHS.

That's expensive, it's probably just an O ring you need, take it apart and have a look first.

It works with my Vaillant fine, same wiring for both stats as regards switching.

I changed mine to a Honeywell T6R. It's far cleverer than the old one and can be controlled remotely via an app on your phone, it is also wireless.
