    Central Heating Valve Help

The motorised valve on my central heating system has gone faulty and no longer works and I am looking for a new actuator for it. The make/Model is- as written on the side- Sunvic SD 751, T52, TS93 Baseplate. Can anyone help me find the correct one to replace it? Have looked online and...

How many of you have had 240v shocks before?

Off 240 I've had two, I am a cable jointer and my electrical gloves developed a hole, touched the exposed live core and got a poke. Worse one was off the house electrics, changing the sockets in an upstairs bedroom for metal faceplate ones, isolated the upstairs socket curcuit and started...

    Earthing type

We at the DNO just to be confusing call that earthing type SNE (seperate neutral earth) or lead sheath earthing. Like other's have said I wouldn't trust the earth on it though due to the Cable network/joints being the best part of 60 years old! Chances are it will still be ok but it's just as...

    DNO's and there subcontractors

One thing though, they won't be able to tell if the earth will be supplied until the new cutout has been installed and tests carried out- EFLI being one of them. I'm not sure about records of earthing types though, i mean i work for the DNO and there is cable plans and you can see what type of...

HELP! loud bang and no electric

Pictures will definately help, it's more then likely a case of a Ryefield type (7 way,10 way ect) distribution unit that belongs to the DNO with their fuses in and meters tailed off this for each flat situated in the cupboard. Then have submains going from them to each flat if the meters...

    DNO isolator fitment - catch-22

I work for the DNO (southern electric), and we aren't allowed to connect tails from a CU to the meter/isolator on the customers side. If it's a service fault or a situation where we've taken the supply off and need to re-energise an existing installation, then we can do it.

    What capacity is this fuse?

Is that fuse in a cutout directly attached to the DNO network or does it go to a ryfield distribution unit or similar?

    Earthing Requirements...Conflicting Advise

Tut tut! If the supply is found to be PME, the 16mm earth will be connected to either the earth block attached to the cutout (On a SNE- TNC-S System), or connected to the combined neutral/earth (CNE- TNC System)

    Earthing Requirements...Conflicting Advise

Yes, SNE is the term for TN-S, It stands for Seperate Neutral Earth. [/b]

    Earthing Requirements...Conflicting Advise

I don't understand how the guy from YEDL can say that until he has done a ELI test on the new cutout! For all he knows the ELI at the point of supply could be above limits (.80 ohms i expect seeing as it's a SNE supply).

    Found a nice one today

It's good! And i see the typical 'dont know what on earth im doing' diyer conductors through the cord grip instead of the sheath :D
