    Pond Pump Electrics

You don't have an RCD covering he house sockets that is why the pump worked on the extension lead. The pump is faulty and needs to be replaced, the RCD is doing its job and keeping you safe. You said above that you have two pond plugs yet you only talk about one pump, what is the second plug for?

MK grid fuse module box depth

I would recommend a minimum 35mm box too, recently installed a 4-way grid with two fuse modules into a 30mm surface box, it went in fine just about but had to make sure i dressed all the cabling neatly behind.

sky engineer tells me phone master socket and slaves are wired wrong

3rd wire not required in this case if you are using plug in filters on all phones and devices plugged into any of those sockets, they have a ring capacitor built into them.

    Is this new wiring safe?

That has to be one of the worst electrical jobs i have seen in a while! Get them back to do it properly and ensure they engage an electrician to do the work because i can assure you no 'electrician' did that work pictured! Personally i would attempt to agree with them that you will engage your...

    How to hide conduit trunking...?

Its really annoying that someone has been paid for that work, problem is your management company will almost always go with the cheaper quote and then you end up with this sort of work. Ok so trying to be more helpful how does the supply get from the external CU to the stairwell lights at...

Christ my Nan could have done a better job of that, the corner piece will be kicked off in no time! My advice - find a better electrician!!

How to remove ballast from LED tube fitting

That's not how its wired now, the neutral goes straight to the fluro lamp pin, only the live passes through the ballast. All this is irrelevant anyway just join the two browns together and remove the starter wiring completely - job done!

How to remove ballast from LED tube fitting

Hmm on the incoming supply there isn't an earth connection, that needs sorting too! As others have said join the two browns together and remove the starter wiring completely. What about the capacitor across the supply, anyone know if that needs to be removed too?

Nitedevil cameras with built-in balun - need some help

Ah think you might have hit the nail on the head mate. The DVR is a QVIS HYB-PRODC-32 and looking at the specs i don't think it will support a TVI input. I'm guessing my only solution is to fit an external balun at the camera end using the bnc/composite out then?

Nitedevil cameras with built-in balun - need some help

Hey Guys, Do any of you have any experience with the NiteDevil cameras that have a built-in balun, specifically the SEE220 model? We have just purchased some new cameras to extend coverage of our CCTV system at work and had our site electricians install them. They have wired them in CAT6 cable...

    Dimplex OFX1500TI spares help

Hi Guys, Family friend is having some decorating done and the clown doing the work has damaged the controls on her oil filled radiator, a Dimplex OFX1500TI model. I have looked online at some spares websites including Dimplex direct and they either don't have any or list the parts as obsolete...

Bathroom lights not working despite replacements

Have a look in the loft as there could be a hidden FCU up there running the lights/fan in the bathroom, maybe even an RCD FCU if any work was carried out recently-ish?

What does the starter do with a replacement fluorescent tube.

I would guess the included starter is a blank (no connection between the pins) as if you leave the old starter installed without disconnecting the wires internally it will short out L/N when you power on the fitting.

RCD trips but not the mcb

sups - Did you supply the external RCD socket or the sparky? If the latter you may want to ask him why he has made you spend more money than you needed to (RCD sockets are more expensive than non-RCD ones), as already mentioned you didn'tneed the RCD socket at all, offer to pay him the balance...

    Power to outside lamp post

I used to have the same phobia thinking SWA was difficult to terminate, in reality its not you just need a little practice with an off-cut first. I found this step by step guide with pictures really useful.... http://talk.electricianforum.co.uk/topic/14843-terminating-swa-picture-guide/
