    Johnson and starley

My mother has a Janus 3/3/30 which she uses for hot water only. Today her hot water cylinder ran dry because her wc was overflowing . Wc since fixed. Since then the pilot light has gone out on the Janus, is that a safety feature because of no hot water, didn't have time to sort it this...

    Gas pressure again

Good point DP but then none of the other installers that I have had round even mentioned doing a pressure check before installing the new boiler so I presumed they did it during or after installation.

    Gas pressure again

Had a chap round last week to give me a quote for replacement boiler. He phoned me today to ask if can come and test gas pressure to make sure that it's at least 18 before he can give quote. He says there is some kind of test facility within the old boiler ( gloworm space saver 38) that can be...

I got my Siamp flush valve from toiletspares.co.uk, next day delivery, I have seen the inlet valve on the site as well, think it comes in 3/8 inch or 1/2 feed

1/2 or 3/4 inch gas pipe

1/2 or 3/4 inch gas pipe

Assuming that it's 3/4 inch I presume that it could be used to replace a 15mm feed into a 12kw new boiler, the diameter would be slightly less than 22mm but should be ok?

    combi v system

Ok, I know that I'm no expert but could the ideal system be ,. A system boiler with a vented cylinder and aqualisa shower with built in booster pump, obviously not power shower. I know that's not ideal to combi lovers

    combi v system

Another reason for not having a combi, I know I may also have to upgrade my existing gas pipe for a 12kw system boiler but perhaps less likely. Thanks Bernard

    combi v system

Thanks Bernard, I have a timer/programmer, so it's just a case of using that to allow the thermostat to turn the boiler on/off

    combi v system

Thanks Vulcan , interesting points, The cylinder stat on my vented cylinder has never worked, we just turn the boiler on about 3 times a day to heat a tank of water which works fine. If I get a new cylinder stat when I get a new boiler will the boiler keep firing up when temp of water drops?

    combi v system

And the hot water cylinder is staying vented

    combi v system

Thanks Bernard, I still wonder why installers tend to pressure me into a combi boiler when it must be easier to install a system boiler from a vented system
