May not be easy to tell from these pics but any ideas 1/2 or 3/4. Old gas spur in kitchen about 40 yrs old, presume not copper, does anyone know the circumference of 3/4 inch? Thanks

I would have to check again but I think it was about 27.5mm, think it was cooker pipe, but i think in those days u could get a gas fridge?

1/2" MI = 21.7mm od
3/4" MI = 27.2mm od
The size will be under that paint on the end cap.

Thanks Muggles but what is male iron?
Am I right in thinking that 22mm copper is measured as inside diameter?

Male iron is an external thread. 22mm copper is measured on OD - imperial measurements are ID, metric are OD

I'm confused Muggles earlier u say that MI which I assume isn't copper is OD and in your last post u say imperial is ID,?

The OD measurements mentioned are to give you a way to identify what size pipe you have. Internal diameter of steel pipe is actually different for different grades ie. thicker or thinner walls. The outside diameter is sized to take British standard pipe thread.

JimCrow's accurate measurements will tell you what you have.
