I'm fitting a pump in a house built around 1970 and I presume at that age my pipes could be ither metric or imperial. I want to get all I need before I start. Is there and easy way to tell if my pipes are 22mm or 3/4 inch.

I know that compression fittings for one don't fit the other. Am I right in thinking that 22mm push fit connectors won't fit 3/4 inch either?

Thanks

Assuming that they are 3/4" then you have 2 options.

1) Use 3/4-22mm converter couplings, yorkshire or end feed

2) Use 22mm compression fittings but buy a pack of 3/4" olives to use instead of the 22mm ones supplied.

The 3/4" pipe is visually smaller looking if side by side with 22mm.

1970? You should be normal 22" pipe and if the pipe is not painted, encounter no problems?

I've been working in houses from 1960 lately and they still have normal 22" pipe, this is in Scotland though, dont know about down south.
