Can I use Energer SDS Drill for 100mm core in brick?

Thanks JobAndKnock, maybe I'll just hire a drill to get the right finish. I'm in a third floor flat so unfortunately can only come from the inside.

Can I use Energer SDS Drill for 100mm core in brick?

Thanks, in this case should I use the hammer drill or turn it off? It's a single speed drill, so I've no option on RPM.

Sagging ceiling (and floor above) likely problem/solutions?

To follow up on this, I had a full structural survey done on the property, and their opinion was that the sag was due to actual movement of the walls some time in the past and not the joists rotting at the ends. So shimming the joists below the floor above is probably the order of the day. This...

Can I use Energer SDS Drill for 100mm core in brick?

I have one of these cheap SDS drills: http://www.screwfix.com/p/energer-enb465drh-4-8kg-sds-plus-rotary-hammer-drill-230-240v/63303 It's an Energer ENB465DRH 4.8kg SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill 230-240V It has a clutch and seems relatively low RPM (850rpm no load, 40Nm max torque) Can I use...

Floor levelling compound you can screw/nail into?

Well, I have an uneven floor on the first floor of an old Victorian building due to historical structural movement. I'm thinking of ways to fix this. Being a first floor there will be no sub-floor, just floorboards mounted on joists. I know the best solution is to just make a variety of wooden...

Floor levelling compound you can screw/nail into?

Hello, I'm wondering if you can get a floor levelling compound which you can screw or nail into? Something which cures to a wood-like consistancy? If so, can anyone suggest the products? Thanks!

Sagging ceiling (and floor above) likely problem/solutions?

Ken, a more comprehensive answer is difficult to imagine. It definitely assists, thank you. The building is indeed sandstone. I am capable enough to both lift and replace floorboards and tear down and replace the ceiling (having done both of these things before). The entire place would need...

Sagging ceiling (and floor above) likely problem/solutions?

Hello, I'm looking at buying an old Victorian house, irca 1890. Its in a row and is attached to houses either side. It has a few issues, but the most worrying one is sagging of the living room ceiling, and corresponding sagging of the floor above. I'd like to know what the most likely reason...

Fitting new radiator, does anything need done before fit?

Hi, I'm getting a radiator replaced on my gas fired central heating system. I have an almost brand new Worcester combi boiler. What should I expect the plumber to do, if anything when fitting the radiator to keep my warrenty intact? What I mean is, does he need to flush it, or anything...

External waste pipe in tenament flat

Thanks for the replies, I own the flat, freehold, and there is no managing agent (there's a special situation where I live in Edinburgh which means this is common, but the council can step in and demand repairs, or do it themselves, ripping everyone off in the process). I think rope access...

External waste pipe in tenament flat

Hello, I live in a fourth floor tenament flat (in Scotland). The external waste pipe from my flat has started (or possibly has always been) leaking, and now every time I flush my toilet a load of water escapes outside. [code:1] from my wall o \ This pipe leaks \ o |...

Adding sockets to a ring main - Scotland regs etc.

Hi, thanks for replying, I do own the flat. I'm aware there's a big difference between working with electricity and being competent to perform domestic wiring. I only mentioned it as part of my question in the hope that some of the basic theory could count in some part toward a qualification...

Adding sockets to a ring main - Scotland regs etc.

Hi, I would like to modify a socket ring main in my flat in order to add some sockets. The planned modification would be as shown in the pictures below: In short I would like to convert an existing spur to be part of the main ring circuit, add a second socket to the ring main, and take...

Best way to finish paint-stripped victorian oak doors etc?

Thanks ladylola, I was also worried about the green stuff, for either lead, or arsenic, so I made sure I got the right masks!

Best way to finish paint-stripped victorian oak doors etc?

Hi Symptoms, No, nothing like you suggest on the mouldings, and the bottom layer of 'stuff' originally on the doors seemed to be a dark glossy varnish rather than paint, although it's also possible there was a layer of green stuff below this. There's no chance I'll be painting these again...
