Cable through Zone 0, LV fan in celing

Guess the restricted space inside the duct must dry out quite quickly - once the shower steam has dissappaited, I was going to set the over run timer to 20 minutes anyway, bathroom fans bnever seem quite pu to the job, always wondered why bathroom fans are so meek, yet kitchen fans made ware...

CU, head and meter enclosures fire resistance

Very interesting ... I am considering voltage drop on cables from Solar Panels, but that will be for another thread.

Combi vs system boiler and tank

the cylinder will be heated only once or a few times for an extended period, and the amount of hot water left in the pipes is insignificant compared to the total energy put into the cylinder. Thats a good way of looking at it ...

Cable through Zone 0, LV fan in celing

as far as the electrical industry is concerned, 230V or 240V is "Low voltage" Appreciate the comment. So the industry acronym terms: LV, ELV (of whch their exists SELV, PELV, FELV) fall into defined brackets of voltage - but as you say, when quoting such terms, the actual voltage needs to be...

MDPE to 3/4 thread (is it 3/4 thread ????)

Ahh, thanks ... been driving me nuts, it appears 22mm compression threads are indeed NOT 3/4" BSP, seems the thread is not to any particular standard, now I think about it - I have a variety of 22mm nuts that have different threads.

Are you going to make sure they don't have too many paracetamol? Forunately the landlord is not responsible for such poisonings, new government regulation (1998) was brought in to limit the availability of aspirin and paracetamol from retail outlets. Under 1,000V is low voltage. Sorry I should...

MDPE to 3/4 thread (is it 3/4 thread ????)

I have one of these, I also have floplast MDPE to 3/4 adapters: I can't get any 3/4 (22mm) compression fittings to fit the plastic thread, few turns in they all cross thread and strip the plastic thread in the MDPE fitting ... Am I missing something ??

Kingspan Tribune - adding extra 2 port valve

Its being collected tomorrow, so will post something up, I spoke to Kingspan, who advised the wiring centre for the 2 zone/port/valve version has in place the terminals for an extra valve, and cutting one ni is a five minute job ... which is probably sales talk for 20 minutes, but however long...

Cable through Zone 0, LV fan in celing

Don't position boxes poorly. Wise words Don't poke around inside the fan while taking a shower. Tenants do the strangest things ... think LV might be the way to go. Condensate in ceiling fan ducting ... should you expect a rain fall of condensate - or is it insignificant in the South of the...

Kingspan Tribune - adding extra 2 port valve

Hi, Could a (competant) person add an extra 2 port valve to a pre plumbed Tribune Xe TXN 250 PERP, (which is an indirect unvented cylinder.) I gather this cylinder as standard has 2x 2 port valves, one for DHW and one for a Heating Circuit, I have Underfloor heating that needs it own circuit...

Cable through Zone 0, LV fan in celing

as long as you need a tool to access this location, you can put what you like there Thanks, but for arguments sake - couldn't say a long term drip from a water connection under the bath pool in that area, and say a poorly positioned and non IP connection box then allow the conduction of current...

Cable through Zone 0, LV fan in celing

I understand 240v electrical items are not allowed in Zone zero under a bath, can T&E though run though zone 0 (ie under the bath) to terminate at a power supply either on the ceiling (above 2.25mt), or instead in the stud (accessed from outside the bathroom only). Is it safe to install an IPX5...

CU, head and meter enclosures fire resistance

one would presumably need some other forces (other than gravity) at work before the screw would come out Screw Fixings in ceilings using plastic/nylon fixings then would fail Thanks for the comments. My spark has suggested I do not need SPD protection as I am not in a rural area. A single bus...

CU, head and meter enclosures fire resistance

The link to the Shirley Towers incident is frightening, cables everywhere. Can anyone confirm the use of nylon plugs when using FR conduit with the metal clips - is there any Fire Test evidence, nylon plugs would surely melt and the fixing fail, I note Fisher make metal Plugs, and Dewalt 'wall...

Getting head around RCBOs and split CU's

What some vendors offer for sale is primarily driven by profit Umm are you better off going with vendors that charge more - and would be more ethical in there sales approach then ? I have been looking at Wylex gear, I guess mid market ?? Just called Wylex, tech were very helpfull, it appears...

Getting head around RCBOs and split CU's

Wylex miniature RCBOs bring higher levels of safety to anelectrical installation and its users because they includeswitched neutral as standard and bring cost savings byreducing installation and testing times. Sorry I misread the catalogue blurb, it is just the miniature RCBO's that have the...

Getting head around RCBOs and split CU's

Thanks Mr Port for your explanation. and shoving half of the installation onto a single RCD is in no way complying with that So does the 18th edition require amost all RCBO's now in a CU. Where there is more than one circuit on an RCD there will always be an inconvenience to the other circuits...

Getting head around RCBOs and split CU's

We have 4 types of RCD (AC, A, F, B) each working slightly different to each other. We then have 3 types of MCB (B, C, D) where the ‘type’ denotes the ‘curve’ Thanks for that explanation, I see the types are unique to either RCD or MCB, not used for both ... makes it clear now. The RCBOs you...

Getting head around RCBOs and split CU's

Thank you for your replies, very helpful. I will be involving my spark in the design, but before we sit down I want to understand as best I can what he might spec in the box before it is purchased. PV and EV charging points maybe along the line later - and understand they will need separate...
