    Vaillant EcoTec+ 837 with Honeywell CM907 - cycling on/off

Thanks Tony, i'll try watching the stat when the heating comes on. I do indeed have the temperature set quite high on the boiler, I'd say it's set to about 90% of the maximum. Is this considered too high? I set it to this as the radiators didn't feel enormously hot... David

    2 questions: uPVC windows

Hi all, grateful for your opinions on the following please: 1. I have several uPVC glazed windows, a couple of which seem to have gone 'cloudy'. Close inspection shows that there appears to be moisture between the 2 glass panels. I am assuming that these are sealed units and therefore...

    Vaillant EcoTec+ 837 with Honeywell CM907 - cycling on/off

Hi, just wondered if anyone is able to offer a word of advice. I have the above boiler and thermostat combination, relatively new (<1 year) - and have noticed that sometimes the thermostat starts the boiler (as the room temp falls), only to stop it again a minute or 2 later. The CM907 makes...

Engineered wood floor plus tiles and UFH

I have a bit of a dilemma. I am just about to create a large-ish open plan living area in my house (36 square metres) and I would like to install a (warm water) underfloor heating system. The existing floor is a suspended wood floor (I should mention house is approx 100 years old) with a...

    CH comes on with DHW

Kev, I read the section on re-pressurising. I think the PV membrane must be ruptured as water escapes from the valve when I press the central pin. I'm not going to replace the PV in it's existing position as it means taking the boiler off the wall. I read the relevant section on replacing the...

Thanks Kev, appreciate it. I'll have a go at it tomorrow

    CH comes on with DHW

OK another issue with this wretched boiler. The pressure in the system drops to zero over a week or so. I originally thought this would indicate a leak somewhere, and have been simply topping it up as required. However, I've just noticed that when running the CH, the pressure goes all the way...

    CH comes on with DHW

Thanks ChrisR Crikey, she's not cheap is she?!! 85 quid-odd. I'm actually going to be embarking on some quite major building work in the new year, and will probably replace the boiler then as it's got to move location in the house. What would your opinion be of just leaving it? Whilst rads...

    CH comes on with DHW

Kev thanks, that's great. Loads of info in there - there wasn't a manual like this with the boiler when I moved in so appreciate you sending it over. It looks quite simple to replace - is it just a case of buying a new one and seeing if it works; or are there any specific tests I can do to...

    CH comes on with DHW

OK thanks. Can you give me an idea where to look for this? How would I check it for faults? Sorry I've not attempted fixing a boiler before but i'll give it a go! Thanks again

    CH comes on with DHW

Hi Kev It's a Turbomax Plus 828e Just to clarify what you want me to test - just run the h/w with the heating off (cold)? If so that's what I've been doing - and the rads upstairs heat up (so yes, the pipes warm up). Would this suggest some sort of problem with a valve or something...

    CH comes on with DHW

Guys, just moved to a new place. Boiler is a Vaillant combi about 8 years old. I've not been using the CH yet, other than to test it, and all seems ok- all the rads heat up. This issue is that 2 of the rads upstairs heat up when I'm drawing hot water. The effect is particularly noticable when...

    Electricity supply to shed

Hi, I'd like some advice on laying an electricity supply to a garden shed please. Shed is standard wooden shed, and I would like a single light bulb, and a single mains power outlet socket. So the requirements are quite basic. I will not be using any high-usage items into the socket -...

    New hot water cylinder specification

All I'm ordering a new hot water cylinder from the manufacturer (as the dimensions I need do not seem to be available as a standard order). The manufacturer wants me to specify the tappings. There seems to be a choice of various sizes of "BSP" male and female fittings, along with...

Soundproofing A Brick Party Wall-Best Method?

I did some sound insulation on my party wall a couple of years ago. I used 1 layer of Gyproc Soundbloc plasterboard (isolated from the party wall using small wood batons), followed by a layer of acoustic rubber matting pasted to the plasterboard (cant remember the make I'm afraid - but it is...
