    Ply shed cladding immediately suffering

Most of the panels have cuts in them now to fit around windows, rafters, etc. - won't be easy to do that. And considering how quickly it's got damaged I wonder if treating/painting it even makes a difference? I mean, featheredge stuff you can leave untreated for a couple of winters and nothing...

    Ply shed cladding immediately suffering

Hmm, this was specifically suggested to me as an acceptable cheap way to clad it! That's a shame, so it was pointless really. What can I safely cover it with now? The shed is 3.66m * 3.20m so a lot to cover. I got the ply and battens for about £240 which was half the price of cheap...

    Ply shed cladding immediately suffering

I have clad the outside of a shed with 9mm "exterior grade" ply, and battened over the joints to give a board & batten type appearance. After one bit of rain many patches of the ply have started to bubble, see picture for example. Anything I can do or have I wasted my money on the ply and will...

Can I splice 2x4 like this?

In practice I'll have to make the frame first but then of course put the OSB on it right away, yes. I don't have a large enough flat area to lay out the OSB nicely like that, it would be a struggle to get it all lined up neatly. If I overlap/sandwhich the joints, surely just going say 300mm...

Can I splice 2x4 like this?

I have a lot of 2.4m lengths of 45mm x 95mm treated C16 stuff which I want to use to build a shed floor frame/base. On top, they will have 18mm OSB3. The shed is to be about 4m x 3.5m so none of the timber is long enough in either dimension. Is there a decent enough way to splice this stuff...

Can you build over a lower storey in this way?

So that's not the usual way, perhaps? Would they normally be sat atop the roof and then be exposed or kind of boxed in..?

Can anyone have a quick look at my plans before submission?

Cool, so if my application is missing something that they want then they will ask me rather than just waiting for the 8 weeks to expire and rejecting it because I didn't include something?

Can anyone have a quick look at my plans before submission?

Thanks - ok I can add a scale bar. I saw some dimensions like mine on other plans so I just copied that idea. North point on floor plans? I didn't realise that was needed, just for site/block ones - but yes I can add that. Room names, sure. I do have roof plans but I took them out when I saw...

Can anyone have a quick look at my plans before submission?

I'm about to submit a PP application for a fairly standard kind of extension. Similar things done on my road or nearby already. I would be very grateful if someone could take 3 mins to look over the plans (elevations, floor plans, site plan, location plan) and warn me if I've missed something...

Can you build over a lower storey in this way?

Oh right, ok - and excuse my ignorance but would both beams be enclosed in the shallow ceiling/roof space of the existing single-storey part?

Can you build over a lower storey in this way?

Sorry to bump this, but I was talking to a builder friend today and he was very keen that #3 be used if at all possible, saying that #4 comes with considerable extra difficulties spanning the roof unless you use a support post inside the ground floor room (which is not possible in this case)...

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

The meter move itself has to be done by "the gas company", right, not an RGI of my choice? That's why I wonder if I won't have a choice about when it gets done, just got to take the day (probably in November by now) that they offer.

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll sort out the details and have someone look at it. Reckon I can time the meter move to fit in with the start of excavations for the extension, or are they not that flexible? That would be handy.

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

What I mean is, right now the pipework doesn't meet today's regs, but I don't have to change it just because of that - it can stay as it is but I certainly can't make additions that make it worse. But if I start to alter things then at some point, when alterations become widespread enough, I...

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

As I mentioned, the difference is in fact quite significant as one option may involve digging up floors and a lot of other fuss. Maybe I'd decide not to bother moving the meter at all, right? As the homeowner I think it's pretty reasonable to know what the work is going to involve before I order...

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

For the reasons above; this could cause very serious disruption to the rest of the house, or it could be no problem at all. I need to order the works properly, or decide what's even necessary, and can't do that without knowing what they'll actually involve. It's quite reasonable, I think...

Expansion tank overflowing - cylinder failed?

Hi again, guys - before I go ahead and replace the cylinder, is there any final and conclusive testing I should do to diagnose that this is indeed the problem?

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

Will he be willing to tell me in advance how it could work, or only once I commit to the job? I'd just like to know what's possible first, really, as it knocks on to other plans. For example, if I have to replace all the 15mm AND can't run pipe on outside walls, then it means digging up tiled...

Reconnecting gas after moving meter - pipe and location Q's

Hi. I need to move my gas meter since the pipe [presumably] passes under the walls of an extension I'm building. It's currently on the side wall of the house, and the only other spot for it really will be on the front wall. From the existing meter there's 1) a pipe that heads down into the...

Any clever ideas about this stair problem?

Here's one that might be a bit better: Existing // Proposed There'd be a bulkhead in the (new) room below but that's no problem.
