    Insuring vehicle for MOT.

Motman: So sorry about this. It is my own ineptitude I am afraid. This is due to having to currently tax and insure two other vehicles in my charge rather than the vehicle in discussion. What I should have said was that our initial task was to have the car tested and then, subsequently, we can...

    Insuring vehicle for MOT.

You have raised a few points here for consideration here, guys, so thanks for this. Doggit: Yes, without insurance in his own name he is always going to be compromised with regards a potential buyer requiring a test drive. We will check out the charges for the garage pick-up but our original...

    Insuring vehicle for MOT.

An elderly friend requires to have his currently SORN vehicle MOT’d. The car is 25 years old, in vgc and appears to be working fine on being started up and driven in and out of the garage several times recently. What would be the easiest way of getting the vehicle legally covered for the purpose...

    Minor cosmetic repair - bumper

This makes things look rather easy but he was pretty successful, though. Best of luck if you try it. :)

    New clio mk 4

You could try this. I used something similar (the 3M version, but it now appears twice the price of the T-Cut) a couple of years ago to remove the build-up of misty residue on both of the headlamp lens thus acquiring an advisory comment on the MOT certificate. The 3m kit comes with several...

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

JohnD: Are you saying that Hammerite Paint is not suitable for this intended application or have I misconstrued? Right, I have changed the Gel for Kurust from another branch and I have got a 250ml pot of Hammerite (Direct to rust metal paint - smooth white). This is my intended work spec: 1...

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

Good point, John. The data sheets show that the Kurust product is methoxy-2-propanol whereas the gel is citric acid. From a layperson's perspective there would seem to be more warnings with the gel. Kurust Hammerite Rust Remover Gel

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

Well the only product I could find was Hammerite Rust Remover Gel. Is this likely to be as effective as Kurust? If not I will try to obtain from another branch. Sōdding Halfords.

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

Thanks for all of the advice, guys. As I said just observing under the bath with a lamp was not so revealing as when looking more closely on the monitor. I realise that it looks pretty severe. I notify matey of said concern and keep you informed of the outcome. Thanks, again.

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

Burnerman: To be frank, John, when I looked at this a couple of weeks ago I did not think it looked too bad so I did not get around to removing the waste – I should say that it is at a friend’s property . It was only when I put the pic on the computer that I realised how intense the corrosion...

Concern about level of corrosion to bath outlet.

I am going to try to replace this leaking bath waste but I am concerned that the level of corrosion might make such plans futile. I intend to remove the waste and give the bath outlet a good wire-brushing and apply some suitable paint (Hammerite?). Is it possible, though, that the bath may be...

    Replacing broken cabinet hinge.

I have a problem with a neighbour’s cabinet hinge that has come off of its mounting, though I am not certain precisely which piece has broken. The part of the hinge that remains inside the cabinet appears to be irremovable; anyone able to suggest what secures this piece to the frame? IMG_3573...

Yes, John, that's the stuff. Is it not also referred to as conti-board? I will note your tip about the pilot hole. Thanks alot.

Changing position of shelf in fitted fridge housing (melamine).

Anyone able to give some advice on some alteration I require to make to a melamine fridge-housing? Basically a fridge failed recently and the replacement is slightly higher so I need to raise the horizontal board which also acts as shelf to the cupboard above. The existing support comes from...

    Still holding !

Well the VW Group is going to have to do something pretty drastic if it is to counter the ongoing decline in sales following Emissiongate – 20% drop for last month. It is, then, a propitious time to rock-up to local franchise, dangle your ill-gotten under the gaze of Darren and cut yourself a...
