Check valve restricts flow to new washing machine?

God Damn It. I bloody kinked the water hose when I pushed the machine back. Pulled it out and there it was, sandwiched. Damned fool. My wife's fault. She said push it back as far as you can. I feel better now.

Check valve restricts flow to new washing machine?

Yes - arrow is definitely in the right direction. I did notice the new water hose was quite narrow also but since it came with the machine didn't worry about it. But I will try to get another valve and see if it repeats.

Check valve restricts flow to new washing machine?

Just replumbed the under sink and fitted a check valve to feed the new washing machine. Just did a high water cycle (denim) and the machine is erroring - saying to check the water feed. I'm wondering if the new check valve is to blame? I purchased a bog standard one from Screwfix - is it safe to...

    Washing Machine Trips RCCB

Out utility room is the opposite - I have noticed that when both appliances are going - especially after a cycle or two that it gets very humid (well - hot and damp then!). The noise of the washer when it's on a spin leads us to keep the adjoining door closed which increases the heat. Good point...

    Washing Machine Trips RCCB

    Washing Machine Trips RCCB

Update - could be the heating element. I swapped it back to the original socket when there was 25 mins left, rinse then spin. The wash is progressing fine...

    Washing Machine Trips RCCB

For the last few weeks we've had intermittent issues with the washing machine tripping the RCCB. I isolated the problem to the Washing Machine - on the circuit (marked utility room in the picture) we have a washer, dryer, fridge-freezer and a few low power things like the Ring alarm keypad. The...

Replacing the bleed valve for my non-standard radiator

I have been unsuccessful in sourcing a radiator bleed key and wondered if it was either rounded off or too small? The valve the other end appears to be tightened by a large flathead screwdriver, and this has something similar. A recent plumber who fitted another more modern radiator was unable...

Temporarily removing block paving for trench

We got some tradesmen in then end and they did a great job. I'm glad I didn't tackle it. They found all manner of evils under the blocks including patches of concrete and it was a hard job.

Temporarily removing block paving for trench

We have to dig a trench for the fitting of some underground cabling for Solar Panels. The most direct route is between our house and garage - some 15m or so which is currently block paved. I have carried out some simple excavation at one side and can see the blocks sit on a sand and red...

    Breaking into 16a Radial Circuit

It's interesting you say that. He was a lecturer of some sort of engineering.

    Breaking into 16a Radial Circuit

Nope. 7. 2 of which in bathrooms. All that's been rectified now - more or less. One that we had in the bathroom had 4 breakers, 1 each for a 3 pin socket (yes, in a bathroom), light, shaver socket and mirror light. It appears that the previous owner would install a new mcb and run a thick cable...

    Breaking into 16a Radial Circuit

To be fair, I think originally he thought it was on a spur. We had some interesting discussions as we have 7 consumer units. Some of them have breakers that only support 3 or 4 sockets. We got past the point of getting things so that they made sense that a rewire was no longer feasible - but in...

    Breaking into 16a Radial Circuit

I've laid cable for an extension to a ring circuit, but am rethinking where I break in. This ring carries nearly all of the sockets in the upstairs of the house. I have a 16A breaker in the consumer unit that is currently feeding 3 sockets to a small porch area that is a radial. I'm thinking of...
